Lance seems to be pretty negative towards things lately. Just because he hasn't run well doesn't mean the racing is bad. When others were struggling on Goodyears (like it is alluded he is on Hoosiers) he was all for the Goodyears.

Exactly what I was thinking. I was really surprised to hear him say its a dying sport a few days ago. Even if its true , surprised to hear him say that in public.
I don't think he's been the same since he broke his neck last year. That would slow me down too....

Been watching Sprint cars, Midgets and other open wheel cars on dirt since the mid 60's and I hate to say it, but I think we've seen the "Golden Age" of open wheel racing. I just don't see how owners can spend half a million dollars to race for $3-$5 grand for the winner at most local races. Economically, it doesn't make dollars and cents.

Then local racing will cease to exist. Nobody in the country pays as much weekly money as the premier 410 tracks like the PA tracks, Knoxville and Ohio. It is a convoluted situation because of the transition from the days when we had people who were car owners that hired drivers. It takes a lot more family teams to keep things going and there are several of them. It is sad to see so many famous teams go by the wayside. I am sure there are other examples, but we sure appreciate the Hoffmans that keep a deal going when others get out.
