A pair of Oklahoma drivers has been making their mark in the racing world in 2013. Harli White of Lindsay and Christopher Bell of Norman, have represented the young talent coming out state of Oklahoma on a high level!
Harli White has had a year that has ended in an OCRS Championship, a season that in total featured: 31 starts, 8 wins, 19 top 5s, and a impressive 25 top 10s. The young females story has been one with a lot of highs, that have came through fighting the lows.
After enduring the experience and recovery of a terrifying wreck that included a fire that severely burned 40% of her body. Harli White would not let that stop her need to race; therapy for a year was worth the price of taking a car into a corner, on the edge of victory and defeat. Now, Harli White stands on top of the Oklahoma racing scene by becoming one of the, if not the only woman to take a series championship with the OCRS Sprint Car Series.
Harli White has made several trips to Texas this year, but has never made the trip to the Devil's Bowl Speedway. That will not be the case after this Friday and Saturday Night, as Harli White will compete in TWO divisions of Sprint Car Racing at the 40th Annual Winter Nationals James McElreath Memorial. You can find Harli White behind the wheel of both a Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series machine, and a DGS Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car.
Christopher Bell of Norman, OK has been on the national scene in 2013, competing on the USAC National Midget Tour regularly and in a variety of other racing series and cars in his off weekends. Residing on top of the USAC National Midget Tour as a Rookie, Christopher Bell has been impressive to those who did not see him coming.
Many in Texas and Oklahoma saw him coming though, as he made a name for himself in the Power ranks in previous years. As well as an impressive run in the 2012 Short Track Nationals, that really opened the eyes of a lot of people outside of the Texas-Oklahoma area. Christopher Bell is not a Devil's Bowl Speedway new comer by no means; in fact if it wasn't for a mechanical failure in this year’s 40th Annual Spring Nationals Matt Clevenger Memorial, we would be talking about whether Christopher Bell could win both the Spring and Winter Nationals in the same year.
Bell leads the first 17 laps in March, before the Baytown Ford 31b had a rear end failure. Can he resume that same dominance? This Friday and Saturday Night the soon to be 19 Year Old in December, will be looking forward to taking home his first career victory at the Devil's Bowl Speedway.
