Great news for sprintcar fans, owners and drivers! We have all fall & winter to get as many car owners, drivers, and fans to come and support the fairgrounds' racing program.
I believe that the Racesaver 305 is the future of economical, entry level sprintcar racing.
Hope you are feeling better sprintfan1

Ive never been to that track, but hear its a neat place, congratz on something sprint related becoming a new class anywhere, around here, it seems IMCA type cars have flooded the region. I would only assume this would help the Knox 305 car counts beings its another place to race on a different night, again, props to those looking out for our future..

Sounds like a great way to bring more people to our sport; owners, drivers and fans. I've heard about the race savers but don't know much about them. What do they cost? What kind of power are they putting out? How many nights before a recommended rebuild? Would one be competitive at Knoxville with their 305s? Thanks for the info.

Still going to cost $$$$$ to go fast i know of 20.000 motors that make 520hp all it takes one or two guys with them motors to kill a class.

Not trying to throw a negative into this but I have a couple of questions.
What is the difference between the racesaver 305 rules and Knoxville's 305 rules, if there is a difference are the drivers/owners going to need to have 2 motors?
Is Knoxville going to let the racesaver run at Knoxville (Thought I heard they let a couple of the racesavers try Knoxville, how did the match up with the Knoxville cars).
I know we need more places for ALL SPRINT CARS, but just not sure how this is going to help if people can't get together on their rules. In its day (the 50's thur the 70's) the Iowa State Fair Grounds Track was one of the best sprint car tracks around with several IMCA shows every summer, during the State Fair alone they generally had 2 shows.
GOOD LUCK I Really Hope Everything Works Out.

From what I read on another message board is that Tony Moro (former Knoxville racer) is the new promoter of the Iowa State Fairgrounds racetrack. One other note that I saw was that in 2015 the racetrack will be shortened from the 1/2 mile, that it is now down to a 3/8 mile.

Thanks Mark....Yes this should be good for sprintcars...at the Eagle race all 62 cars were fully teched..and the racing was great..Engine costs from $5500.00 to $8500.00 for the top of the line products...plus your choice of injector brand..and racers will always try to beat the rules..but with these imca rules and sealed engines.. life will be a lot harder for them..it will sure bring a lot more racers into the sprintcar ranks.

Yea that's the trouble when you get a class that's suppose to be cheaper some idiot with a lot of money comes in and ruins it. But then again he probally couldn't make it running the upper classes with his money so thought he would drop down and try to kick butt. He probally just can't drive. Happens all the time in racing, the one with the most money usually runs up front or wins once in a while!!

Well, #15 Sprint, in Eagle's case this year you'd be wrong. Mike Boston won 6 track championships in the 360's before joining the 305 division this year. Yes, he had a good motor, but I think even you would have to admit he can drive!
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

my appologizies, my bad, I forgot the two had a large differeance in 305 rules, on a 1/2 mile track that can be like bringing a knife to a gun show.. I have been affiliated with the IMCA type sanctioning the past year now, after severl years of ( open 410 and ASCS type racing) alltho the sprint side of things is rather light ( in my area) the "crate" thing has seemed to take off, the rule book is two pages short of reading the bible (Only for cover sheet and index) teching these type stockcars is a absolute nightmare! the sealed engines have become a direction for some racers to tamper with, the rev limiters are something to keep on top of again easily tampered with if not extreemly attentitive too., the suspension is in the eye of the beholder and more than often bent., the BODIES! OMG really! how many different versions of a heavy turd is there??. IMCA was a good organizeation rallied to the benifit of the saturday night racer. those times are rapidy deminishing or flurrieing dependant on the avenues pursued by cooperative racers, thier wallets, and IMCA . I honestly cant speek on behalf of IMCA's future.. spec,,Amod, sportmod,Hobby, stockcar, latemodel, sprint, sport compact, they have become a car that is very specific to the rules, as a racer your better off staying on your own porch and running for track championchips with a assload of money, rather than be a REAL racer. JMO..

What would be the dream of everyone - Owners, Drivers and Fans would be to hear a LOUD EXPLOSION - that explosion would be the sound of ALL the promoters and/or tech people pulling their heads out of their back sides all at the same time.
For some reason I just don't see the tech people at Knoxville working with the other groups to unify the rules. Just my thought if the 305's all had the same rules, the 360's all had the same rules and of course the 410's all had the same rules it would mean more places to race which should mean more cars.

Who in the des moines are is certfied to seal a motor???? You can't just buy the parts and build one and put in car and race. Crank has to be weighted and marked.Heads are the same way ports must be checked then it gets sealed so you can't take them off with out the seal being broke. Check out french Grimes racesaver web page !!!

As I said earlier, Roger at AutoTransmatic in Bennington, Nebraska both builds and seals them; and that's about 145 miles west of Des Moines. 402-238-2595
