I'm curious why, since NASCAR says it was obvious that Boyer spun on purpose; Boyer is not out of the chase as well & Gordon put in his spot? I mean if he is the one that clearly cheated, why do they penalize his teammate that did nothing & the perpetrator is essentially getting a slap on the wrist? NASCAR is digging their own grave & are too stupid to realize they are.

Team orders. Bowyer's actions had a direct impact on Truex's finishing position.
Additionally, a penalty of 50 points is a heavy hit to Bowyer's chances in the Chase.

Not only sponsors but how about Toyota...MWR screwed up when Toyota first got into racing and now again after a few years...MWR might be looking for a new manufacturer after this season...
|
Potential lost sponsors and Toyota support. Will the actions of Saturday night begin the demise of MWR?

MRW also fined $300,000. Boyer's has turned into a butt the last 2 years.

I don't think there is any difference between wrecking someone and spining out intentionally so............
Under this new rule "Manipulating the Standings" I guess we have to go back and give Bowyer the championship last year since the 24 manipulated the standings. (we all know that was intentional)
Take Logano out of the chase for breaking Hamlins back.
I guess they would also have to take all of Stewarts championships away for wrecking all the people he has wrecked over his career
NASCAR should have just said this: Use the first 25 races to get in, that way you can't get screwed on the last one. Thats the way it is and life's not fair.
I don't think their are rules against team orders if there are then how come everyone finds it completly acceptable for one driver to let another lead a lap for the bonus point.

all three MWR teams were fined 50 points.
the points don't affect bowyer in the chase. the points were deducted from the total BEFORE the chase reset. so bowyer effectivly gets no point penalty.
the points deduction is what caused truex to be bumped and newman to be in, since the points were deducted from regular season points. even though it had the same result, nascar didn't just pull out truex and put in newman. if the points would have been deducted after the chase reset, truex would still be in.
my question is....when is the appeal?

i agree to the extent race manipulation is used by teams.
but nascar manipulates the races more than anyone with their "debris" cautions and selective in race penalty calls. the restart with edwards is an example. mascar has said you don't beat the leader to the restart line....no matter what. if you do, the only way you avoid a penalty is to give the position back in a timely mannor.
furthermore, newman still had an opportunity to race into the chase if his team would have gotten him out of the pits in the front row, instead of the third. if newman won he gets in on a wild card because he had two wins to truex's one. if newman finishes second, he finishes second and truex finishes where he did, newman gets in because he out pointed truex and had a win. originally truex and newman tied for the wild card but truex won the tie breaker. the 39 team was still in control of their own destiney.
additionally, why did SHR let mark martin beat newman out of the pits? that cost newman a row on the restart. for a team that has said it was such a big priority to get the 39 in the chase, they sure blew it...twice.
what bowyer did or didn't do or why he did or didn't do it can be argued back and forth. it still doesn't change the fact that even with the bowyer spin, the 39 had a very good shot at making the chase, but the 39 didn't perform as a team when it counted and instead of SHR covering newman with the 14 they hurt him with it.
