- Dave Darland is like the Steve Kinser of USAC right now…the veteran bagged the ISW (Indiana Sprint Week) title this year…congratulations to the entire Pace team!

- Darren Hagen drove his heart out…unfortunately the results do not show that…it won't take long for Keith and Pete to get the new 5-bar Bullet hooked up…and when they do the "W's" will be coming!

- Who could have imagined that Jon Stanbrough would miss the show at Bloomington…that's how tough it is back there! I guess being a true "outlaw" and not running for USAC National points can hurt sometimes.

- Daron Clayton truly is a Modern Day Cowboy! He continues to impress me. Just imagine how good his future son will be…if he grows up to drive sprint cars…with the racing genes that he's got in him!

- It's hard for me, coming from So Cal, to not see Kruser and the Demon battling for the lead every night!

- I wonder what Tony "Cowboy" Jones would have done out there this year had circumstances allowed him to get back there in Alexander's DRC…I'm sure it would have been entertaining to watch to say the least…can you say "slide job"!

- How about Davey Pombo putting a Crossno backup car into the show the only two nights he was given the opportunity…in a car he hasn't been driving and with a seat that doesn't fit!

- J.J. Yeley will try anything to go fast…choppin' up old cars to see if they'll flex and having radical new ones built…can't wait to see what his next creation will do!

- Neil Shepherd sure tested the strength and safety of them XXX Race Cars…glad he's okay!

- Chad Boespflug was haulin' at Haubstadt…great job by the SCRA grad!

- Robert Ballou put on a helluva show from 14th to 3rd at Bloomington!

- I thought all the Indiana tracks were supposed to be dry slick…that's not necessarily what I saw last week!

- It's still weird to me to hear the announcers introduce Indiana's Darren Hagen, Chad Boespflug, and Damion Gardner…and California's Scotty Weir!

- I wonder what Mike Spencer would have done had Ron Chaffin, Bromme and team towed the Lil' Red Sucker back there for him…he did rather respectable for having unfamiliar equipment and a different crew.

- I wish all track prep crews could visit Tri-State Speedway to witness the first-class operation that they have there…from the wacky track ingredients to the push vehicles to the grading equipment…simply the best!

- I sure missed not seeing Josh Wise, Bryan Clauson, J.J. Yeley, Bud Kaeding, Rickie Gaunt, Tony Elliott, Brad Sweet, or anyone with the last name Kinser in a sprint car at Bloomington this year!

- Seems backwards to have had clear, dry skies back in Indiana last week, and then get hit with heavy humidity getting off the plane in So Cal!

- I used to tell everyone that Jerry Coons Jr. was one of the most underrated dirt shoes…now that he's got good equipment full-time he's proving that!

- Are there bigger sprint car fans than Jackslash, Spridge, Mills, and Mr. Klepper?

- If you haven't been back there…you must go…even if it's just to see the beautiful scenery on the way to each track…simply amazing!

- Indiana State Troopers are super cool…especially to racin' folk…thank God for that!

- Quote of the Week: "Needs more wood" replied Dave Darland (with a smile), after being asked what he thought of the track just before hot laps at Tri-State Speedway.

Mark Alexander and crew are seriously considering a trip back to Indiana next year for the ISW and of course Tony Jones will be their driver. Sounds like a great vacation for yours truly. Smile

The #50 car has to be one of the "best" non-wing Maxim's on the West Coast. The car Spencer drove for ISW is one of "THE BEST" Bullets anywhere. I'm sure he would take that ride anytime Kunz calls him again!

Sounds like you had a good time!!!!!!! Tony would be great back there along with the Spencer in the lil red sucker. I will be making the trip next year and hope to see more west coasters back there. It is a shame that they have an east coast swing, a midwest swing and no kind of swing on the west coast. Think about the tracks they could run on the west coast.

Tulare followed by Bakersfield, followed by Ventura, followed by Perris and then Manzanita.

You are absolutely right! Both teams have shared huge success with top notch equipment and with top caliber drivers over the years. Just look at the amount of races that each have won, the amount of championships earned, etc. Both teams are currently 2nd in points and in contention for their respective championships.

I think ANY driver would be honored to drive for either team!

What amazed me last week was that the car that Mike Spencer drove during the last 3 nights of ISW was a pile of bent tubing laying in the Keith Kunz Motorsports shop on Tuesday...by Wednesday it was a bare, welded frame. By early Thursday morning it was a complete roller ready for competition. Those guys know how to build race cars!

I am impressed any time someone jumps into a car that they've never seen before, in a seat that doesn't fit like the one at home, goes to a track that they don't race at often, and put her in the show...that's a racer!

The competition out there is so intense...more than ever before. I think our boys did us proud just by being out there and giving 100%!

I agree with all the above. But special props goes out to Davey Pombo. This guy is proving he is one of the best. With all that was mention nothing was said about 16 year old Cole Whitt. This kid just turned 16 a couple of weeks ago and almost got one at Kokomo. Watch for him. He has a great crew chief as well.

Will Pombo be in that car at the Oval Nationals?   When will we see him at Perris in a 410?
