Just curious if Knoxville released a $ total on what their take was on the PPV broadcast. I estimate 4,000 buys at $110 per. That's a conservative gross of $440,000. Not too shabby but thats purely my estimate

I should also state that in my work for a business with locations in 14 states it's important to establish hard viewer numbers for events like this. When purchasing ad time on tv or radio there are arbitron and Nielsen ratings that break these things down by demographic. With those type of numbers investors are more likely to throw ad dollars behind events.

well, considering the cushion isn't owned by the raceway I don't know how they could release them....
I highly doubt there were 4000 buys anyway, my guess would be in the 1000 or less range as even people that purchased the PPV didn't watch it alone, they had their friends come over so they could split the costs and ran a cable from their PC to their bigscreen.
When it was broadcast on LIVE TV for FREE, it topped out at less than 1,000,000 viewers and the last few times were around 400,000 viewers. Figure that out of those 400,000 that maybe 5-10% are willing to PAY to watch it (they didn't pay to come to the racetrack), and that # is now 20-40,000 POTENTIAL customers and usually you get 5% of that # to actually purchase, so that's 1-2000 total. (I'm guestimating these #'s, but I bet I'm not far off). So out of that 1-2000, what happens if 3 out of every 4 go to someone else's house to watch it? All of a sudden the # of buys is only 250-500.
I have no idea what the # of people who purchased it actually was (I personally know of (1) and someone came to his house and watched it with him instead of purchasing it themself), but unless they do away with the FREE option of listening on the radio or streaming it on the radio, I highly doubt the viewership will grow in years to come.

Curious since Knoxville doesn't own the cushion, wonder what they got for letting it be produced. And wonder how many butts they lost in the seats because of it???? Like a promotor over at Osky said when people found out the shows weren't going to be on the radio,,if you want to listen to it,,put your butts the stands..Maybe I'm a little old fashioned, but back in the day when you had to wait 5-6 months to see it on tv, you couldn't wait to get there the next year.
