How did you get "cry baby" out of an open/honest discussion about safety?

Tell me @Dollanskyfan1.1 how many times have you strapped into a sprint car or any race car of any type? My guess is never, or you would not have a problem with one of the greatest sprint car drivers of all time saying we need more safety measures in the sport we all love.

I would be the last one to toot a horn for Schatz but I'm puzzled by your comments.
Do you have the slightest idea what criss-crossing the U.S. several times a year is like? How about "hot August nights" in humid places like the Midwest? Eating sandwiches at the track three nights a week. Putting up with obnoxious fans (like I am assuming you are) and dealing with payroll, employee problems and not to mention a blown motor or a blown tire with one lap to go in the feature...AND YOU ARE LEADING???
I can tell you the MAJORITY of guys on the road do not lead a glamarous life and MANY of the crew members lead even less.
I find it hard to believe when a person who calls themself a "race fan" can find fault in someone when they are asked about racing and they provide truthful answers and you then say the person is a "cry baby!"
I'm guessing you have never "lived" on the road so you have no ideas what drivers and team members go through. Hopefully you will wake up to the fact that "glamour" is seldom, if ever, associated with sprint car race teams.
If you are looking for glamout...become a NASCAR fan. That would fit you better!

Years ago we were in the dirt working on a sprint car. Leonard McCarl walked by and said"guys, this is big time racing". There is nothing but hard work and dirt racing sprint cars. You want to cry when you wreck your new car, or blow an engine, but all you can do is fix it and go on. I have no idea in the world how guys like Steve Kinser has done this for so many years. Think of all of the family things you miss. You are on the road and your kids are graduateing from high school. A friend asked Steve Kinsers wife how they could do this year after year. She said the only way they could do it is because they have always done it and know nothing else. The average pit crew works for very little. If you did not love it you would not do it.

45 years ago I got the oppourtunuty to help out as a pit crew member on a Nasccar modified for two different cars over a two year period. There was nothing glamorous about living on the road in fleabag motels or waking up hungover, and going a couple hundred miles down the road to the next stop. The one thing that I got from my experiences from that is that it takes a lot of dedication to do that, with very few rewards, and there were a lot of drivers that in some cases gave the ultimate sacrifice to the sport they loved. When I look at the guys that are out on the road with WOO, USAC, ASCOC, ect today most of us should just step back, reflect a little bit and just be happy that they can just see a show that these touring series a putting on, and forgive my english but STFU!

I have read and re-read the cited article several times. At no point did I discern Schatz was a cry baby. I did, however, conclude the quoted drivers had a great love of the sport of sprint car racing and a greater desire to insure ALL drivers are able to journey home to their loved ones. Racing by nature is dangerous, that is part of the thrill, but no one should have to endanger their lives to please fans or appease promoters. If I were Craig Dollansky, I would be ashamed to have you as my fan.

Who would have thought that such a ignorant post would bring about such thoughtful (in most cases) post's in response?
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

A big embarassment to a class guy like Craig Dollansky, ask him or his wife about safety issues and you might learn something, moron.....
