Did you see race live or on internet, good, if you never saw race why be a critic of anything?  Traction control I doubt very much.  WOO teams travel from track to track all year and it would be very hard to hide traction control from other teams.  With traction control if you are standing next to track on corners you can hear engine mike changes in rpm quicker than driver could with foot.  What is wrong with World Challenge?  It was the last race friday and if you do not like it, leave the track, you do not have to watch it.  Come on 50 gal feul tanks on a sprint car.  Take a look at a 50 gal barrel.  Champ Dirt Cars (Silver crown cars) are not like a sprint car.  They have about a 10 inch longer wheelbase and are powered by 360 cube engines, not 410.  They are of an old design built to run 100 miles on a 1 mile track without pit stop needed.  I think feul tanks are about 75 gal.  They get alot more mpg than 410 because they are smaller engines.  Compared to a sprint car they are quite heavy.  Because of yellow flags you have no idea in the world how many laps a race will have. this includes pace laps before race starts.  There are open reds all the time at Knoxville when they can add alcohal, and change anything but tire.  The are 20 lap to 25 lap races.  Knoxville is really 5/8 mile where most people run.  It is 1/2 mile if you hug the inside .   Eldora is smaller than Knoxville by far.  The race is 50 laps long, why not set back and enjoy it.  I do not know of a track in US that critics come on every week to blast the track.  Yes you can put real hard tires on a car, but that does not mean they will not blow out or wear out.  Stock cars have hard tires, but we do not race stock cars.  If we had real hard tires we would be running 19 sec laps then people would bitch about how slow the cars are.  Enjoy the 50 laps, you do not know how lucky we are to have sprint car races to go to.  Cops, no problem in 20 years at all.  I am ready for those that say I am the dumbest person they have ever heard from.

Actually, people getting on internet forums and slamming tracks, promoters, etc. is one of the biggest drawbacks of the forums.   I see people doing this nearly every week on midsouthracing.com or elbowsup.com.   Go to the midsouthracing forum right now and you won't have to look too far to find a thread where someone is calling the USCS series promoter low class.

I agree with what you're saying.  If you don't like the track or something about it, then don't go.  If you want to complain, at least seek out the track owner, promoter, race director, etc. and tell them what you don't like to their face.  Way too easy to get on these forums and run people down.  Of course I'm sure we've all done it at some point.

I agree with your post completely! i just wanted to add a little FYI...the last 10 laps of the race brown and schatz were running high 18 to low 19 second laps. the fastest lap Donny turned in the whole race was a 17.8!

personally i am a bull ring fan and find half miler's a tad on the boring side, except for eldora...

and yes, i have been to knoxville, osky was better...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

What year was Osky better, racing has been horrible there for years (usually one lane over-watered or no water) except for the non-wing show....

It's too bad when we come on here and simply comment about not liking the 50 lap format for the Nationals and it is considered we are bashing the track, promoter,, event, etc.

I agree. I was about to say the same thing. I have been to every Front Row Challenge and Ultimate challenge. I have never seen better racing at Osky. The non wing does put on a good show, Knoxville hands down better though.

Is someone actually trying to convince us that Osky is better than Knoxville in August........

Must be the same guy that was chest pounding Larson when Golobic won, lol.

I agree with your post entirely except the size of Knoxville. Yes it is a tad bigger than Eldora but no way is it 5/8 even around the top groove. They wouldn't be turning 15 second laps(and under) if it was. The straights are very short for a 1/2 mile track. Selinsgrove for example was measured @.54 in the racing groove and looks larger than Knoxville. Was it ever measure with a wheel?

Osky would have better racing if they moved in the tires on the corners.

we measured top and bottom Kville grooves with a wheel  a few years ago - have the info on my old PC somewhere.

the Eldora measurments we made were spot on with Google Earth readingsa that were posted here some time ago - so perhaps a google earth expert can measure Kville and be done with these myths.

but...when a 15 second track becomes a 19 second track...1/4 of the time a car is either spinning or running real slow compared to the TR.

the Selinsgrove measurement in my signature is the total of the bottom + top raceable grooves divided by 2.

in PA a half mile is now and has always been 2640 feet...not sure about the weights and measures standards in parts unknown?
