One of the all time greats. Wouldn't mind seeing him win the National Open finally this year.

I still think the biggest race he ever won was the Parrammatta City Raceway Nationals (Paid $15,000 I think) back in about '96 the same week the triplets were born.  Honored to do a story on that Victory for SRN back in the day as well....

Has his retirement been known? I knew Keith Kauffman was hanging it up after this year but this is the first I've heard for Rahmer. If the rumors of him not getting a chance at Knoxville are true, it's a shame he won't get to run the biggest show in Sprint Car racing in his final year, especially with some of the success he's had there before.

I am not a Rahmer fan, but sure will miss seeing him race.  Lincoln and the Grove will miss him there each week just like Port Royal will miss Kauffman, but they'll move on and find someone else to become the crowd favorite or villain depending on each person's perspective.

Freddie has had a career very, very few in the country can exceed or even duplicate!!  I just watched the video of his Slick 50 series victory on TV in 1993.  I forgot how dominating he was that day!!  There was no one who was going to beat him!!

As a guy from Cali... I have only seen Rahmer race live maybe 10 times. I remember Rahmer winning back in 93 at the Winter Heat/Slick 50 series at Pioria AZ. in the Apple12 car (not 51 due to no duplicate #'s). Ive always thought of Fast Freddy as the Brent Kaeding of PA.

Good luck adjusting to retirement.

Most people don't know the Bud/Busch Light 21 and the Apple 12 are the same car. It went from the Apple 12 to the Bud 21 then to the Busch Light 21 back to the Bud 21 then back to the Apple 12 when the Budweiser sponsorship left.

Don't know what you're talking about. Fred never used the # 51 in 1993, nor did he drive the Apple 12. He won that race in the Budweiser 21. I HAVE PROOF I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!!!!!! Here is that entire race on youtube....Just straighting out some facts for you.

Fred Rahmer at Knoxville.  I just know I really appreciate the PA drivers making the long haul to run the Nationals when they could.
