Seriously? One of the top 3 biggest sprint car races of the year and it's not shown? It's 2013. They need to get their shit together. Why not at least show Volusia, Brad Doty Classic, Kings Royal, Knoxville Nationals, Gold Cup, National Open and the Finals. I guess 7 events is too much to ask for. They could do a whole show on tape delay for 2 hours of a TV spot.

I agree, could we miss a few college baseball games out of the thousand they show to watch the biggest sprint car races of the year? It looks like we'll have to rely on the internet for coverage at a price.

Ummmmm, DUH......How long has this topic been bandied about? Costs too much money in production costs.

It's just a reference to the type of sports that are shown on TV not to a particular station. At least we have some coverage, audio and hopefully the video coverage will be expanded in the future.

You're living in a dream world. Sprint car racing is not made for TV. A 2 hour show with 20 minutes of racing and 1:40 of driver interviews and commercials does not make for good TV. If it did, then all of the races you mention would indeed have TV coverage. Sprint car racing had it's shot. There was a day and age when there was a good bit of racing coverage. If it had decent ratings it would still be there. I'm a die hard sprint car fan and I don't even think it's all that great on TV. Dang sure don't wanna watch it on a computer either.

Agreed. I enjoyed the old TNN and Thursday Night Thunder broadcasts but those days are long gone. Some sponsor must have been reaching deep into their pockets to make those broadcasts possible because the ratings were never there. Auto racing is a niche market and Sprints on dirt are a small piece of that niche market. It is what it is. Some folks need to be happy that we've got streaming internet. There are a lot of us who remember waiting for NSSN to come in the mail so we could read the results from far away places like Eldora.

I miss the days of Speedworld, Amarican Sports Cavalcade, Dimond P, Thursday Night Thunder & Winter Heat/Slick 50.

When they said the B main will start at 7pm when the show starts, they ment it. It can still be done.

I think when they try to manipulate an event for live TV, it makes it suck for the paying crowd in the stands.

Unfortunately, dirt racing caters to a minute percentage of the population...The cost of producing one of these events for tv isn't justified in the advertising return...

With that said, how long has dirtvision had and they still can't seem to get their heads out of their rearends...?

Opinions may vary...

Bottom line. I just want to fucking watch the big races when I can't be there in person. That's all. And don't suggest DirtVision. It's a joke.

I guess that's why, as I was channel surfing a few minutes ago, I found a replay of the Lucas Late Models from Wheatland, Mo (A real racing hotbed I'm sure) on channel 159 of DISH which is NBCSports. Coverage isn't too bad...and they even have Dave Argabright reporting from the pits.

Hi Fellow race fans. From 2007thru 2011 I produced a weekly motorsports T.V. Show that was broadcast Saturday and Sunday mornings on The Fox Sports Network(North). I had a professional staff of 7 including members of the Speed Channel on air personal hosting the show. Each program featured racing highlights from many disciplines of racing, with a greater balance of the programming devoted toward open wheel racing. After pursuing many advertisers, with some degree of success, it still was not profitable enough to continue. Our show had good Niesel ratings, but when it came time for fans to support our sponsors we fell short. It broke my heart and spirit to have to cancel our show, as I couldn't continue to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars per year with little return on investment. To Network Executives, If it's not NASCAR it doesn't warrant serious consideration for T.V.

If you want to see more races on your own terms, I honestly believe that supporting the internet content providers you feel do the best job is best thing you can do. Whether it's Turn2/Jackslash/Dirtvision or whatever, support them and SPREAD THE WORD. They are/will be the future. Get on board now... I haven't had cable or dish for 3 years and it's only gotten better every year since I cut the cord.

For the most part I agree with that.

The only thing I will say that was good about being at a race that was Live on tv is that they really kept the show moving. There was no screwing around, absolutely none.

The Thursday Night Thunder worked for the crowd. We would go to the beach and boogie board all day then head across the street to Venura Raceway for the best midget racing in the country. Qualifying started at 5, heats at 6. show started at 7. B started 7:10 the A about 8. Race over by 9 and all the people happy to see a great show and out by a decent time.

During the red flags ESPN/ Bob Jinkins would do stories on the drivers, like, "Why Sleepy Tripp falls a sleep in his moterhome before every race", Jeff Gordon, Stan Fox, Ron Shuman, Jack Hewitt "Why Jet Davidson only races in checkerd Vans" and so on. They also had an army of pushtrucks.
