Mark Dobmeier – Weekend
Sweep Sets Up Big Week of Racing!

July 3, 2013 – A
historic weekend sweep last weekend for Mark Dobmeier and his Lunstra
Motorsports team sets up one of the biggest weeks of racing over the Fourth of
July. Dobmeier dominated features at Knoxville Raceway and Huset’s Speedway
sets up the return visit by the World of Outlaws tonight at Huset’s, where “Dynamite”
dominated them last year for his second career WoO win.
The Senske & Son Eagle timed in sixth quick at Knoxville
in front of 30 cars signed in. A wide race track for the heats greeted the
drivers with Dobmeier going from fifth to win his heat race. With the good
effort in time trials, Dobmeier would line up third for the night’s main event.
After avoiding problems for the front row starters, he found himself on the
pole after a caution of the initial start. He kept Bronson Maeschen behind him
to pick up his 11th career win at the historic half-mile, and his second in a
row.
“Just another great team effort from everybody,” Dobmeier
said. “We’re starting to qualify better which is letting us hit the invert (of
eight). My guys gave me a great car for the feature and I had the easy job of
driving it. We are definitely clicking going into twin features night next
weekend down there.”
The next night was the last chance of preparation for
tonight’s WoO race at Huset’s. After qualifying fourth and running fourth in
his heat race, Mark would line up third on the grid for the feature. He would
take the lead from young Cole Wood on lap ten and hung on to pick up his 50th
career win at the track, but it wasn’t without a late challenge. Terry McCarl
was able to run down the Sioux Falls Ford #13 in traffic, but spun out a lap
later, giving the lead back to “Dobs” as he would then cruise to the victory.
“We got a little snug there in traffic late and Terry showed
his nose around the bottom,” The 4-time Huset’s Champion stated. “I don’t know
what exactly what happened but we’ll take the win. It’s pretty cool to have
picked 50 wins in such a short amount of time here because this place has so
much history.”
Of course, the Big Trucks by Jimco Eagle is ready to roll
tonight for when the Outlaws come into town, including 3-time NASCAR Champion
Tony Stewart.
“We’re hoping we can repeat what we did last year and get
another win for this Lunstra Motorsports team,” he said. “It all starts with
qualifying and hitting the invert and then getting into the dash after that.
(It) sounds like there will be a really deep field of guys this year, but we’re
going to be ready as ever to defend last year’s win.”
The week doesn’t stop there with preliminary plans to run
Friday night at River Cities Speedway in his hometown of Grand Forks, N.D. That
will be followed up by two full purse-paying features at Knoxville for twin features
night, and the weekend wraps up again at Huset’s for a special $5,000 to win
show.
“We’ve been working real hard the last few weeks to get the
rig and the shop ready for this week,” Dobmeier said. “This team is ready to go
to take on this week and hopefully we can get a few more wins to reward our
hard work.”
