How many races can you get out of a set of tires, I know the tack size and stuff matters but let say 1/2 mile track...any help!

Depends on track surface. I think about 3-6 races. You can extend life of tire by regrooveing and taking tire off rim and turning it around. That way you have sharp edges on tire grooves.

Track abrasiveness is key to this question. We run a pretty dry slick 1/2 mile high speed track that tends to be pretty fair on tires and we are averaging 5 weeks on a RR and 4-6 on LR's. AR tires can be flipped, Hoosiers cannot. We also do not run the same tire throughout the night, after 3-4 weeks of features a tire becomes a heat/practice tire/spare for the most part and a newer tire will be on the car for the feature. If properly washed and maintained you can get good life and keep the tire pretty soft.

That's a great question...I have been told 2 reasons...one being that the nylon inside is woven one direction and comes unraveled if run the wrong way..most recently I was told that they have camber built into the tread to allow it to make more flush contact with the track when used on a solid axle with sprintcar amounts of stagger...the person who told me that saw that I had one mounted inside out on the RR of my nonwing car and told me I couldn't do that...the next night I won the A feature with it...
Seems like Hoosier has said not to reverse their tires for many many many years now...I always figured that was so you would wear them out sooner and have to buy more...
I am not telling you to ignore manufacturers instructions..especially with winged car half mile speeds and loads....just telling you that I tend to ignore that particular recommendation on my car.
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.
