BRAD FURR MAINTAINS OCEAN SPRINTS POINTS LEAD, ROUND FIVE SATURDAY

WATSONVILLE, CALIFORNIA (May 16, 2013) - Despite an eighth place finish in last Friday's fifth round of the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo, Stockton's Brad Furr maintained a comfortable points lead atop the 360 Sprint Car series. Furr's lead was bolstered by an early season run of two wins and two fast-times in the first three races at John Prentice's Ocean Speedway Watsonville.

The driver of the #2 Price Rite Restaurant Equipment entry has finished in the top-ten in all five events held this season, holding down a 38 point advantage over Gilroy's Kurt Nelson in the standings. Nelson wheeled the Taco Bravo #72 mount to third last Friday to prove that he will be a force to reckoned with in the championship.

Watsonville's Justin Sanders laid claim to yet another Ray Scheidt's Electric Fast Time award on Friday night before breaking the engine and failing to start the feature. Despite a flurry of bad luck, Sanders ranks third in Clayton Snow's #7 ride.

San Jose's Ryan Rusconi has the Dynicron Cylinder Heads #98 in fourth ahead of Salinas' Jeremy Chisum. San Franscisco's Nick Rescino, Jr., Salinas' Jason Chisum, San Jose's Nick Foster, Jr., Fresno's Koen Shaw, and Morgan Hill's Nicholas Ringo round out the top-ten in the series points.

Foster has maintained top rookie status ahead of Pleasanton young gun Nathan Washam throughout the season. Washam is a graduate of the track's Wingless Sprints while Foster is a former two-time BCRA Midget champion.

Friday's races for the Ocean Sprints also includes Four Bangers, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, and Wingless Sprints. Adult tickets are just $17 with seniors 65+ $16 and kids ages 6-12 are $15. The family pass for two adults and two children is value priced at just $55. Qualifying will get underway at 6 p.m. with fan gates opening at 4:30 p.m.
