Being that it is a Friday night show, there should be a decent field of cars for the WoO at Elko. We just need some cooperation from the weather! The place will be packed for the first-ever appearance of the WoO. It will be a cool experience for the UMSS Traditional non-winged cars to run as a support division that night on the program. I expect around 20 TSCS sprints will be on hand. Elko's facility is very nice with blacktop/concrete pit area, blacktop infield, and plenty of fan-friendly amenities.

No snow accumulating but 32 degrees and light rain/sleet up here in Forest Lake at 5:45pm wouldn't make for a pleasant night spectating.

Extended forecast for next friday is mid 60s and partly cloudy, low 50s for a low at night. Sounds like a perfect night to be sitting inside a sprint car for the first time this season.

You should take in SCVR the next night on saturday. You won't be disappointed in the racing on that bullring. Late models, mods, and wingless sprints.

Should be great racing on this track. It will be interesting to see if the Star Tribune gives the event any ink at all. They have a D- attitude about doing racing stories and covering local racing. Offered to give them info about Roger Ragers induction into the Hall of Fame a few years back but no interest as they do not have anyone who has racing coverage duties. If it isn't Gophers, Twins, Vikings etc, they could care less.

Years ago Don Reilly from the St. Paul paper was a big racing fan. He used to cover the State Fair races in the 60's and wrote about the Outlaws when they'd come out to North Starr. Not sure what year he retired but neither of the Twin Cities area papers have given it any ink since Don retired.
Elko will be a great race, probably one of the best Outlaw races ever in this neck of the woods.

St Croix Valley Raceway just east of St Croix Falls, WI. About an hour and 15 minutes north of Elko. In my opinion Elko is not a good late model track. Been to a couple of them there and they just seem to be follow the leader events. Sprints put on a good show there though. Late models at SCVR last year was the best race I saw all year.

Late Models and Modifieds (and let's not forget Traditional Sprints) put on an awesome show at SCVR so IMHO the Bullring Blast will be the place to be next Saturday night. I'm a bit of a hypocrite because I won't be at Elko or the Bullring Blast but they're going to be great shows and I'm beating myself up about missing them. I'm not on the credentials list for Elko and I'll be subbing as track photographer at CLS School Bus night next Saturday.
The fact that I'm beating myself up about missing these shows should tip you off to the fact that they're both going to be AWESOME!!! I would seriously consider SCVR for next Saturday. It's a bit on the rustic side but the racing is absolutely fantastic.
