A WILD N' WICKED NON WING DOUBLEHEADER WEEKEND SET!

– When the Oil Capital Racing Series originally announced there would
be non-wing sprint car events on the 2013 schedule over the off-season,
the response from fans and race teams was overwhelmingly positive. OCRS
opened the new season “traditional style” to a solid car count and
presented an entertaining race that saw Harli White overcome constant
attacks from the likes of Andrew Deal and Joe Wood Jr. to win her first
sprint car race since moving up from the micro sprint ranks. Upon that
successful showing, although there were two more non-wing dates on the
schedule to run, OCRS officials immediately started hearing chatter from
fans and teams that they wanted even more non-wing action. One common
request series officials were receiving was a call for a doubleheader
non=wing weekend. Well race fans, we have heard you loud and clear and
OCRS hereby announces that we are delivering the goods!
The
summer weekend of June 7th and 8th will see the OCRS sprint cars topless
again for some exciting “Crank It and Stab It” wheel-to-wheel
performances. It will all start on Friday night June 7th where OCRS will
make their first visit to the Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville
Oklahoma. Saturday night June 8th will see the open wheel warriors
travel some 120 miles southward to the West Siloam Speedway in Colcord
Oklahoma. Both of these oval race tracks are “bordering tracks” as
Mid-America sits just a few miles south of the Oklahoma / Kansas state
line while West Siloam sits just a few miles west of the Oklahoma /
Arkansas state line. Race fans from all three states are expected to
witness this special racing weekend in large numbers.

“There
was a good feeling about adding non-wing racing to our schedule,”
explained series president Barry Grabel. “There was some good feedback
when we announced our schedule but after the race at Brill Motor
Speedway (non wing event), the response just seemed to explode after
such a great race that we had there. While I have quite a busy list of
things to do during the course of a program, I caught myself enjoying
the racing that was taking place that night.”
“When that
opening night went as well as it did and hearing what the fans had to
say, knowing we had Mid-America set for the seventh of June, I knew we
just had to find a partner to book a doubleheader with,” said Grabel.
After some thought and analyzing the schedule, Grabel made a call to the
new promoter of West Siloam Speedway, Willie Gammill. “Willie and I
chatted and he sees the opportunity that we do and thus he booked us for
the night after Mid-America. This will not only allow teams to get more
racing in on a single weekend, but there wont be much for the teams to
do in changing set ups from one track to another,” Grabel explained.
“Kenny Gariss (MAS promoter) and OCRS has always worked well together
and this obviously will be a shot in the arm for them also.”

OCRS
invites all race fans to pack the grandstands of these to racing
facilities. MAS is a 3/8 mile oval while WSS is a 1/4 mile track. The
close tight knit action expected from this non-wing sprint car
doubleheader is sure to bring even a deeper desire to want to see more
such action. A few teams that competed in the season opener have
indicated that these types of events are their top priority for their
2013 racing season. As previously announced, there’s also extra cash on
the line as well. The “Non-Wing” champion for these events will earn an
extra $1,000 in cash from participating sponsors. The payout will funnel
down to the top five in non-wing points. In addition to the tracks
mentioned above, the one other date on the schedule for these brave
souls will take place just a month later as Kerry Gorby will host the
topless missiles on July the 6th at the Caney Valley Speedway in Caney
Kansas. CVS is another 1/4 mile track, which will be another great
facility for some close racing action.
