Mark Dobmeier – Ready for Knoxville

Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports PR

April 25, 2013 – Mark Dobmeier is ready to get to the race track this weekend, especially after a rough start to the season out in the desert in Las Vegas with the Outlaws. And Mother Nature looks like she is going to oblige with gorgeous weather forecasted for the season opener at the Knoxville Raceway. With snow still on the ground up in Grand Forks, the Lunstra Motorsports #13 will get some laps Friday night for practice before tackling the famous half mile on Saturday for the first points race of the year.

“Oh man, we can’t wait to get back on the race track this weekend,” Dobmeier said. “We’ve been stuck up in this deep freeze here in North Dakota getting everything ready and finally it’s time to get back on the track at Knoxville.”

The 2013 season didn’t start out the best out at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The first heat race of the year resulted with contact on the start with Steve Kinser and the Senske & Son Transfer Eagle backed into the front stretch concrete. The night was over and the car was junked before getting a competitive lap in the books. The team brought the backup car for the second night, but a tough time in qualifying set them behind the 8-ball. A change of the mag box after the heat got Dobmeier some speed in the ‘B’, but left them watching the feature.

“It was unfortunate how Vegas turned out after traveling all that distance to get in a wreck on the start of the heat,” Dobmeier said. “We found some speed in the ‘B’ but we just started too far back there to be able to make the show.”

However, the time out in Vegas was not a complete waste of time as a ton of family and friends made the trip out to the desert. “It sucks we didn’t perform the way we wanted to, but it was great to see so many people that we know out there,” Dobmeier stated. “We really do not get to see so many people all in the same place during the summer since we’re always racing somewhere. It was fun to be around so many people that make this #13 car what it is every year.”

The focus now turns to this weekend’s opener at Knoxville. And a heavy field is expected to meet the Sioux Falls Ford #13, whether some of the Outlaw drivers are there or not.

“It sounds like the roster of drivers running for points down there is going to be stout,” Dobmeier said. “It’s tough to win at Knoxville any time, but it definitely sounds like this year is going to be even tougher with the number of guys expecting to run for points. We’re excited to see how we match up with everyone and see how all this offseason work pays off.”

With River Cities Speedway called off for Friday, you can catch the Big Trucks by Jimco, Fisher powered #13 on practice night on Friday at Knoxville, followed by the season opener Saturday.

APPAREL: The 2013 design has been completed, and you can grab your shirt or sweatshirt starting this week at Knoxville.

Just curious as to why the switch from J&J to Eagle chassis after so much success with the J&J? Thanks for the updates! Good luck this season!

I think a few guys went to Eagles this year, although I can't give an in depth answer as to why cause I truly don't know but maybe they just see potential in the new frame they came out with this year or maybe theres a sponsorship thing tied to it. I believe Sammy and Saldana both went to Eagles this year as well.

That picture of the car and hauler, That is one Sweet looking Semi Tractor, I don't know that I've ever paid that much attention to their semi so I don't know if thats something they've always pulled the rig with or if its new this year, but I like it.

I would guess Eagle gave away some cars just to get some big names in them.

The truck belongs to some bull hauler who wanted to pull there trailer to Vegas, I don't think that truck will be pulling the trailer every week.

I believe they were using a Volvo or Freightshaker last year? , the Pete looks to be something new? agreed, its a pretty sharp truck, painted frames always are, I wish it would tie into the trailer a little better, (graphics /color ect) but if it were mine, I wouldn't be complaining good luck Dynomite!

I'm nearly 100% positive that the Pete belongs to the "Dammer Trucking" that is in the list of sponsors and its normal gig is pulling a livestock trailer.

Sharp looking rig no matter what's behind it.
