Veteran Crew Chief "Outlaw" Richard Brown available for assistance to all KWS Lites teams free of charge at season opener on April 13 in Fernley

By Gary Thomas

Fernley, Nevada – April 8, 2013…The anticipation of a new season is always one of the fascinating things in racing and for the Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway that anticipation is at an all-time high, with the opener coming up on Saturday April 13.

During the season opener the Fernley 95a Racing Series will take to the newly reconfigured racing surface and included in that is the grand debut of the KWS Lites. One of the other exciting aspects about the opener is the fact that well known and talented crew chief Richard Brown has been hired to be on hand to lend his expertise and set up advice to the KWS Lites teams in attendance.

The initial meeting for the KWS Lites was held in mid-December in Fernley, Nevada and featured nearly 30 people representing 18 teams in attendance. The basic concept behind the Winged KWS Lites division is to help organize the many Economy Sprint Cars in the area that utilize low cost engine packages, such as those seen in Spec Sprints.

"We're looking forward to the KWS Lites division at Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway and think it will be a great class for people to get into Winged Sprint Car Racing by a more economic way of doing so," said RTF Speedway promoter Dan Simpson. "We are also really excited to have someone with so much knowledge like Richard Brown at our opener. Richard has been around for years and traveled all around the country and will be a big benefit for all the teams to have him at RTF Speedway for advice during the night."

Along with the KWS Lites during the season opener at the Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway on April 13 other classes will also feature IMCA Modifieds, Sport Mods, Pro Stock, Hobby Stocks, Dwarf Cars, Mod Minis and Outlaw Karts. Adult tickets on April 13 will cost $12, children six to 12 will be $8 and kids five and under free.

The new Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway is Northern Nevada's premier three-eighths mile clay oval and is home to the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series and the Fernley 95A Racing Series. RTF Speedway runs from early-April until late-October and features everything from Winged 410 Sprint Cars to IMCA Dirt Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Dwarf Cars, Motorcycles, Outlaw Karts and more.

The Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway dirt track has been in existence since 1999 and is geared up for its best season to date in 2013. The overall facility also includes a road course, drag strip, motor cross track, off road course, gun range, paint ball facility and has been tabbed as "Racings Field of Dreams."
