1) 20s Fred Rahmer 2) 20 Ryan Taylor 3) 21 Brian Montieth 4) 39 Greg Hodnett 5) 69K Don Kreitz Jr. 6) M1 Mark Smith 7) 19M Brent Marks 8) 11c Cory Haas 9) 27 Lance Dewease 10) 1s Logan Schuchart 11) 2 Jim Siegel 12) 17B Steve Buckwalter 13) 0 Rick Lafferty 14) 69 Ryan Smith 15) 48 Danny Dietrich 16) 87 Alan Krimes 17) 15 Adam Wilt 18) 29 Ryan Wilson 19) 47 Eric Riggens Jr. 20) 13 Jason Leffler 21) 75 Nicole Bower 22) 44 Joey Hershey 23) 747 Davey Sammons 24) 3 Pat Cannon

Fred Rahmer is back. He took home the season opener in his new ride, the Rob Sell 20s. He won it from the front row but not without numerous challenges from a name that will be big in PA for the next few years, Ryan Taylor. Monteith, 2012 track champion Hodnett and Krietz Jr rounded out the top 5.

Fred also came from 10th in his heat to 3rd to get into a redraw position.

Since moving here 5 years ago, I can honestly say that Fred has been not been consisently this fast as he is this year.

Easter Weekend allowed this kid to get back to the track for the Williams Grove opener that was pushed back a week due to rain.

29 strong 410's rolled into the pits with invaders including Dave Blaney, Jessica Zemken and Eric Riggins Jr.

After reading those names if I told you only 1 of them made the feature, would have you guessed Eric Riggins Jr? Riggins, out of North Carolina, in only his 2nd 410 race ever came to Williams Grove and put it in the show.

Zemken and Blaney both were DNS in the B main. The B was extremely lackluster and had either of them started the B, they would have been able to get around some of the low-buck local drivers and transfer. Both will be at Port Royal for their season opener tomorrow.

Jason Leffler was in attendance once again and made his Williams Grove debut and described himself as a "fish out of water" after the feature. They look to run a decent amount of PA shows this year as this is already Leffler's 3rd race of the year over here.

Ryan Taylor, who quietly made both nights of the National Open last year, opened some more eyes tonight hanging in there with Fred, Monteith and Hodnett and crossing the line 2nd.

Brent Marks continued his extremely strong start to his campaign with his 5th top 10 in as many starts.

On the other end of the spectrum, Danny Dietrich continued to slump out of the gates. Dietrich has been nothing short of dissapointing this year. A year removed from making an impact with 10+ wins, Dietrich can't seem to find any sort of speed in 2013. He'll try again tomorrow at Lincoln.

Without a doubt, the talk of the town right now in Pennsylvania is Fred Rahmer. He was flat out impressive tonight and looks to be on a mission this year.

As mentioned before, Port Royal turns on the lights tomorrow and should see a quality group of cars roll through the gate. Lincoln will run its 5th show of the early season tomorrow and for the first time this year the tracks will run against each other. I'll stumble my way to Lincoln tomorrow before headed back to Virginia for the rest of the semester.

Good stuff, thank you. Maybe you and BillW will get others to start a positive trend like this, informative for all sprint car fans from across the nation - the way it use to be here.

Thank you again

Hey Dirthawk,

I want to echo the sentiments above about the quality of your report....great stuff!!!

Eric Riggins is from the "sprint car hotbed" -- Charlotte, NC. He's a really good kid and has been running USCS for the past couple of years, grabbed a 410 and attempted the World Finals last fall. Great kid, good family and glad he made the tow north.

I do have a question. Even when the economy was good why is it that some teams hardly ever race Williams Grove unless it is a WOO event or some other special show ?? Port & Lincoln race the same night & between the 2 of them probably have 50 to 60 cars. So why can't WG have mid 30's to low 40's weekly ???

Because some work Friday nights. I know Mike Erdley works on Friday nights and doesn't race, but does Saturday. Some car owners just don't have the money to race both nights.

For a "washed up, no driving" Cliff Clavin lookalike, Fast Freddy is still a badass driver. Way to go!
