I'm home from college on Spring Break and was able to stumble to Lincoln, so I figured I'd recap it for you all.
I think it's going to be a good year for the 19m. Brent Marks looked calm as ever and had the poise of a veteran as he won Lincoln's final day show from the 8th position.
You couldn't ask for better weather as it was clear skies and 60 degrees all day.
This week started the handicap process which saw Billy Dietrich lead the first 16 laps in his family owned 8. He would cross the line 4th.
Fresh off of destroying 2 brand new race cars, 4-time 2012 winner Cory Haas rolled it back into the trailer in 1 piece crossing the finish line in 3rd.
The storybook start to the season ended for both JJ Grasso and Scott Geesey. Both drivers are lined up to run other divisions primarily in 2013 but started off the season nearly flawless. Geesey, scheduled to run Sportsman, came into the race 3rd in points ahead of big names like the Dietrichs, Marks, Haas, Dewease, Hodnett, etc. He struggled in the heat and actually lost a redraw position to local low-buck fan favorite John Rudisill. He brought it home in 1 piece 14th but was nowhere near as fast as he was the first 2 weeks. Grasso, a fixture on the URC tour, fresh off a 4th place run last week was running 5th before pulling off with a flat tire and suspension problems. I really hope these 2 continue to strap the 410 in because they can run with the big boys.
Brian Monteith started 11th in the feature and was up to 6th by around lap 8 but pulled off under caution with a flat tire and shock damage resulting in a DNF.
Points leader Fred Rahmer in his new 20s ride came into the day as the points leader and was solid yet again. He actually clipped the 1 lap track record in hot laps.
Lance Dewease was the fastest he's been at Lincoln in a while in his new Heffner 27.
Billy Pauch Jr made his 2013 debut in the Wilson 56 and quietly ran around 15th all race.
Brian Leppo, Stevie Smith and Aaron Ott remain rideless in Central PA.
There were no invaders a week after Cole Duncan was here from Ohio and April Wilson was in town from New York/Canada.
Selinsgrove opens the gates tomorrow for a day show which will mark Jason Leffler's PA debut in the Buch 13. Port Royal turns on the lights next Saturday and will have a stout field of cars as usual highlighted by Dewease, Hodnett, Heimbach, Esh, Layton, etc. Lincoln moves to night time racing next week as well. Hagerstown also has a day show next Sunday. We are 2 weeks away from the Williams Grove season opener.
