Engine problems force Brett Miller to run 360 during July 4th weekend
By Gary Thomas
July 9, 2007... Chico’s Brett Miller was forced to put in the smaller 360 cubic inch engine during this past weekend and he did a respectable job, however, a pair of accidents in the features took away finishes that could have been higher. Brett was underpowered running with the 410's, but on the bright side, the team will get the 410 engine back in time for this coming weekend’s double header in Chico.
Brett started this past weekend off with Care Free Pools night at the races at Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway. Brett ran a strong qualifying lap to turn a 12.675, but it was 16th fastest showing just how much difference there is between a 410 and a 360. Brett then lined up on the front row in heat race number one aboard the Care Free Pools, Platinum Powder Coating, JP’s Paint & Body, Al’s Concrete No. 1x. Brett fell into second and did an outstanding job to hold off Brad Sweet over the last five laps of the heat to bring home a second place finish.
After the sprint car B-main, Brett and the Care Free Pools team came out on the front stretch to throw shirts and candy into the grandstands. Brett was interviewed by Troy Hennig on the front stretch and everyone had a great time doing it.
Lining up 15th in the feature, Brett was up to the top 10 when a pileup occurred in front of him on lap 13 which left him with nowhere to go. "The Catfish" was involved in the incident and after going to the pits and getting the damage fixed, he came back out and drove forward to bring the Wolfe Electric, Smartwebsales.com, Jandy Pools, BR Motorsports No. 1x home in 13th.
On Saturday Care Free Pools Racing made the drive to Antioch to compete with the Golden State Challenge Series. After qualifying 11th quick, Brett transferred through his heat to put the 1x machine into the feature. Starting in the sixth row of the 30 lap main event, Brett hugged the bottom of the speedway like many of the other competitors and was running in the top 10 when he was involved in an accident in turn four with just two laps remaining and was officially placed 18th in the rundown.
This coming weekend will feature two races at home including another Silver Dollar Speedway point race on Friday before a Golden State Challenge event on Saturday at Silver Dollar. Having the 410 engine back will be nice and will put Brett and the team back on a more level playing field.
Don’t forget to stop by the rig after the races and check out the new Brett Miller T-shirts that Beth picked up this past week. They came out great and look really nice. For all the info on Brett Miller and Care Free Pools Racing visit http://www.brettmillerracing.net
