Stephen Allard earns another podium in Chico

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA - July 6, 2007... Chico’s Stephen Allard continued his hot pace at Silver Dollar Speedway by bringing home a third place finish during Care Free Pools night/Point Race #15 this past Friday. Stephen has been driving very sharp recently and has been giving it his all each and every night. The addition of tuner Larry Shelton has really jelled the whole team over the last month as 1m Racing is trying hard for the Silver Dollar Speedway track title and SA is doing what it takes to be a champion.

Stephen came into Point Race #15 on the heels of two straight wins and he began the night by qualifying eighth quick aboard the Johnny’s Lock & Safe, Platinum Powder Coating, Chico Bail Bonds, Rocket Chassis No. 1m. A runner-up finish in his heat race transferred Stephen into the feature and with fast qualifier Brad Sweet pulling the number eight pill, it put the 1m machine on the inside of the second row.

As the green flag came out Stephen blasted into second and applied some heavy pressure to the rear of leader Sean Becker. Early on Stephen ran the high side of turns one and two as the Silver Dollar bullring was prepared as good as it had been all year. The Cross Creek Trucking, Finley Farms, JP’s Paint & Body, Miller’s Glass No. 1m was hooked up and Stephen was up in the saddle. He got side by side with Becker on a couple occasions, but just didn’t have enough to get by.

Stephen didn’t give up as the laps wore on and continued to hound Becker, but he then had to deal with brother Jonathan and youngster Brad Sweet. The trio had an exciting battle over the last 10 laps and it ended with Stephen bringing home a solid third place finish.

SA and 1m Racing have now scored four straight podium finishes in the Feather Falls Casino point series at Silver Dollar Speedway and haven’t finished out the top five since the first weekend in May. Everything has been going great and we can only hope that it continues that way as the season wears on.

This coming weekend will be a fun time as the Golden State Challenge Series heads back into town. Friday night will be another Feather Falls Casino point race at Silver Dollar before Saturday’s event is sanctioned by the Golden State Challenge King of California Series. Golden State hasn’t been in Chico since the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial in May and this Saturday’s event will mark the first of three visits this month by the series.

Stephen Allard will bring a 14 point lead in the Silver Dollar Speedway standings to GT Trends night this coming Friday in Chico. Then on Saturday he'll compete with the Golden State Challenge Series for the first time since June 11.
