Please allow me to deviate for a moment...

What's up with NASCAR.com? I can't figure out their new website... It's terrible; impossible to navigate!

Am I not alone?

yes it sucks, I quit going to it. It really pisses me off when somebody has a good website and they change it.

The old adage of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" seems to have been beyond the thought process of those at NAPCAR. Oh wait a minute, thinking & Nascar is an oxymoron...my mistake.

I generally use it for historical stats. But now all I can find is last year's numbers.

I'm hoping it's a work in progress and that the previous history will be restored.

+1 I hate that damn site . Won't even waste my time there anymore.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

With you 100%! The racing was actually entertaining 10 years ago. So what do we do? Change to those piece of crap COT cars. Bristol is an awesome race that is the hottest ticket in NASCAR? We should change the surface so it totally sucks! Our stands are full of people? We should keep making bad decisions to pad the car owners pockets and screw the fans. Our website is good? We should change that too since all of the decisions we have made in the last 10 years have also sucked!

I don't get it either. I can now watch a Nascar race in 15 minutes since the invention of DVR. Thank God. That's a total of 14 minutes of Darryl Waltrip's voice.

Why would anyone waste their time on that website anyway?

I think there are a lot more NASCAR fans on here than the vocal non-fans would have you believe. I lose interest when you get down to say hydroplaning, but stock cars, motorcycle racing, drag racing, pretty much all motorsports pique my interest.

As far as their website, it was previously being managed by Turner Sports with NASCAR just getting back the management rights to it in the last year. The new design is supposed to make it more tablet/mobile app friendly, but certainly is a big step back for those of us using PCs.

I agree with you. Most of the "die hard" sprint car fans that I am fans with also turn on the TV on Sunday and watch the race. Most of them even have a favorite driver. I watch it all too. I do however, think that NASCAR has made their own bed with some of the fan unfriendly decisions that they have made in the last decade. COT: bad. Bristol repave: bad. Two car drafts in restrictor plate racing: bad. Continuing to build cookie-cutter tracks: bad. Dale Jr. as a golden calf: bad. They could at least make the website manageable.

While we are at it, I don't blame the media or Nascar for the hype on Danica either. If you had a business that could be aided by this kind of publicity, you would run with it too. If you don't, you are a business moron. Can't believe there are still idiots out there that don't think she should have a ride and are besides themselves on how she got it. The name of the game is money. If you had to try to land a sponsor who do you want? Danica spread out on the hood of a car in a thong or Bobby Hamilton Jr.?

I would like to THINK the tracks are trying to be more fan friendly & making changes as needed. I have season tickets to Texas Motor Speedway and they made a number of changes this year - as they have often in recent years - trying to generate loyalty. Reduced prices, lots of perks & my favorite - no smoking in the stands. Bristol went back to the old layout, the Gen 6 cars look good & hopefully run competitively. Agree that 2 car stuff was a joke. As for Danica, she certainly generates a lot of interest. My only issue w/ her is she is way over hyped for what she has accomplished. If not go Go Daddy's support & her being easy on the eyes, she would likely have been another Sarah Fisher by now. Gotta give her props for what she did in qualifying, though. Now lets hope she doesn't have a Lap 5 crash and take out 1/2 the field w/ her on Sunday!

Yeah, i think they are probably trying to warm the fan base back over. They just put a crap product on the track for a while now. I thought the new Bristol surface made that race awesome last year! Too bad they emptied their stands for the last 5 or 6 years.

As far as Danica. 1st off, I can't stand her. But, beyond that, to me, there is no such thing as an overhyped, overpaid, athlete. They get hyped exactly as much as the fan base will let them. They get paid exactly what they are worth. That isn't to say she will live up to the hype or earn the money she got paid. But trust me, she is making people FAR more money right now than they are paying her.

WARNING!!!

Logging on to that site could possibly:

Cause you to buy a single-wide mobile home

Lose your front teeth

Buy an old Ford pickup

Buy three coon dogs

Marry your cousin

Collect Dr. Pepper bottles

Tattoo the number "3" on your arm

Erect a 20 foot pole to hoist your Confederate flag

and last...but not least....start calling your uncle.."DAD!" Wink

(if you think this is a serious post and/or a stereotype...you are missing the point!)

In my many years of selling photos at SPRINT car tracks around the country I always sold an almost equal amount of NASCAR photos as well. The idea that the typical CUP fan is a hillbilly from the South is as much a joke as the Posse winning on the road. Met lots of business folks, attorneys and the likes at the infield in Daytona and Indy over the years, they dwarf sprint car fans in what they spend to go the their races also, many times over. I never was a fan of the stuff and I was standing next to the track watching it to some degree, to each his own.....
