Stan M has now waved the double checkers on the 14th Annual GRP Racing Trivia Contest at the mythical MDTR Speedway. On the final night, Tyler Urban had to withstand some serious challengers. Tyler kept the Urban Assault Vehicle atop the standing despite some strong runs by perennial contest powerhouses like Kayla Hoffman, Todd Boots and Michael Pietrowski. Kayla actually scored 37 points, but Tyler got the earliest entry tie-breaker to finish in first place. Congrats to Tyler Urban from Sioux Falls, SD on his first Sprint Car Division title during the 14th running of this winter pasttime.
Over in the LMS Division, Mark "Tireguy" Schreiner was able to hold on all week long and defeat his arch-rival Chris Stepan plus several other strong contenders. Tireguy picked up his third Late Model title, now equalling Stepan for LM championships in the contest. Mark indicated that was his goal, and he accomplished it.
Mark also took top honors in the Double Duty Award standings, as his combined score of 84 out of a possible 90 points defeated Kevin Mudrak by 10 markers. Thus, Tireguy takes home the lion's share of the prize money this year at MDTR.
Congrats to the champions and a huge thanks to all those that submitted entries or looked at the contest but did not enter. Stan M will have the answers posted sometime on Saturday, probably in the morning or towards noon.
