With the news that Blaney will be running eldora in the trucks coming out today made wonder, do you know of any other confirmed drivers in the truck race at eldora?

All I know is there will be alot of trucks that will not make the race. Nascar has the rule of the top 20-25 trucks in points will be locked in, so only 10-15 spots will be open.
I hear alot of dirt guys are building, renting or buying older trucks just for this race.

I believe you will see more than 10-15 invaders in this race. Truck owners will likely hire ringers in for this race, much like we see at road courses in the two bigger series. I think owners with drivers outside the top 10 will think about filling their seats with late model drivers, sprint car drivers, etc. It will be a ball leading up to it i think. Hopefully it lives up to the hype. I just couldn't see any of the truck regulars holding off someone like Bloomer who knows how to read a changing dirt track. Would be cool to see some guys like that in it.

My guess is you'll see more than a few of the top dirt late model drivers in the Country with a truck ride at Eldora.

My guess is very few of the dirt late model guys will even make an attempt. The chassis are so different that their experience will not apply.
I bet a sprint or silver crown car driver will have more applicable experience than a DLM pilot.

I hope they run it like a dirt race with heats and mains.
I guess Smoke will know and hopefully it will get posted here.

Will these "ringers" still have to get a NASCAR license?

I am sure they will, even the crew members will have to get the NASCAR license.
NASCAR controls their pit access fairly tightly...."guests" will not have to get a license and media members most likely will not have to have one, but both will have to submit a request and be approved a week or so before the show. I doubt even Smoke will have much say in this.

I think Knoxville should look to try and make a deal with NASCAR if this is works out. IMO Knoxville has better facilities and is suited better to handle an event of this magnitude.

Seriously?? Have you looked at a sprint cars suspension? It has absolutely nothing similar to a Nascar truck other than they both use shocks. In fact I would argue that late model drivers have much more applicable experience to racing a Nascar truck on dirt than sprint car guys do. Either way though we will be seeing both sprint car guys and late model guys racing thats already been confirmed on various websites.
Cheers!

It's more like a 3400lbs hobby stock with a potent engine and a floater rearend. These guys just need to run some 1/2 mile hobbystock races with the same engine for some good practice.
The trucks are also 3400lbs

It would be neat to see Sammy Swindell participate in this race. He ran the inaugural Craftsman Truck Series season (although I would assume the trucks have changed quite a bit through the years). With his experience on the dirt at Eldora and his wide array of experience in different types of motorsports I think he could keep up with everyone else.

OMG..can you imagine what this forum would be like if "The Slammer" entered...and won..the Eldora truck race? This place would erupt and it would take months to get them back online!

Perhaps that's the idea?

Will Smoke put his drivers into a truck for the day. Regardless, great to see NASCAR returning to the roots. Next will be Sprint Cup at DuQuoin...

Yes seriously, I have never seen the left rear tire in a NASCAR truck shift 18 inches forward and tuck itself under the body panel every corner.
Dirt Late Models have very unique geometry and shock packages....IMHO it's a pretty good reason that the last DLM guy to do anything in NASCAR was Jeff Purvis.
