For immediate
release:Petaluma Speedway 2013 Racing
Schedule
1/10/13
The 2013 Petaluma
Speedway Schedule is out, and what a schedule it is.Featured heavily is sprint car action, with
every single night of racing having at least one of the two PitStopUSA Sprint
Car series divisions racing.Looking
down the docket, you can't help but notice the May 11th date, which marks the
return to Petaluma Speedway of the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series for
the first time in nearly 4 years. The
top 410 sprint car drivers on the west coast will invade Petaluma Speedway for
what is being billed as the Tribute to Baylands Raceway Park, where legends
from the past will come back and re-live memories from their race wars in
Fremont in the late 80's.We are hopeful
to bring in many names from yesteryear for this special occasion of great
racing from the King of the West 410 Sprint Cars and enjoy memories of the
past.Three times this year, the Hoosier
Tire California 360 Civil War Sprint Car Series will be on hand, the dates
being April 27th, July 6th, and September 14th.The Civil War 360s will bring the best 360 sprint car drivers to the
Petaluma 3/8ths for three can't miss shows. The Bay Cities Racing Association Midgets return three times in 2013 on
June 15th, August 10th, and the 2nd Annual 101 lap Johnny Soares Calssic on
October 5th.Petaluma Speedway has taken
on IMCA sanctioning for 2013 for the Dirt Modified division in hopes of
reviving a struggling class, where the IMCA rules insure a balanced and
competitive field week after week.This
year, GM and Director of Marketing Rick Faeth has laid the foundation for
Petaluma to be the home track of a traveling IMCA Dirt Modified series called
the NorCal Modified Tour.Tentatively, 2
races will be held at each of three different tracks, Petaluma, Antioch and
Chico's Silver Dollar Speedway.Certain
divisions enjoying healthy car counts will remain as well, including the
popular PitStopUSA Wingless Sprint Car Series, and the PitStopUSA 360 Sprint
Car Series. Both divisions will have 12
point nights which include the three Civil War nights for points for the Winged
360s and four Joe Hunt Magneto Shootout Spec Sprint Series races on May 4th,
June 1st, August 10th and September 21st for the Wingless Sprint Cars. The Dwarf Car division will be back with a
full slate of racing and twice the Bay Area Dwarf Car Association has agreed to
co-sanction a point race for the Dwarf Cars.Expect a huge turnout of Dwarf Cars on those two nights in April (27)
and May (18).Our Super Stock division
will remain unchanged with 12 point races as well as the Mini Stock/Hornet
division where both will have a full slate of racing. The Late Model division will have five races
for the year, making each and every one important along the way.Four days throughout the season, we will be
dark. Those dates are May 25th (Memorial
Day Weekend), August 3rd in support of the Petaluma Music Festival, August 31st
(Labor Day Weekend), and September 28th.During the Sonoma-Marin Fair, we will race for the first time in recent
memory with a 150 lap Enduro and Compact Car Demolition Derby scheduled for
June 23rd.Coming back for a third
consecutive year is the Gene Romero West Coast Flat Track Motorcycle Racing
Series on August 17th.All in all, 24
events are scheduled, covering April through October and with the above
mentioned special events added, indeed 2013 at Petaluma Speedway promises to be
the biggest, baddest, fastest and most exciting year yet!Join us for year 54!

May 11th is listed on the King of The West websites schedule as Merced Speedway but on this release you say the KWS series is racing at Petaluma. Someone's schedule is wrong.
Cheers!

Interesting. I figured the increase in the cost to book a KOTW race would be more than enough to keep them off of Petaluma's schedule.

Gary Thomas updates the KWS website. He is currently in Tulsa for the Chili Bowl. May 11 is KWS at Petaluma. I'm stoked to see this happen. I shake hands with Dan, Gary and George most every time I see them and there's always that maybe next year talk. This is that year. - Ron

I just posted about this on the Northern California board. I really hope you are right becasue I would much rather go to Petaluma than Merced. I haven't been in Petaluma for years because they haven't had a KWS race.
Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!
Winged sprintcars = the fastest and most exciting
racecars on dirt!

Hope I'm right? Who do you think I am? lol There IS a problem with the posted schedule we just discovered on June 15th. We are scheduled to have 360 sprint cars on the same night as Civil War/Hanford, which obviously won't happen as we will not have 360s that night. We will post the adjusted schedule later, but the KWS on May 11 won't be affected. - Ron

Please note the original post has been edited to show Spec Sprints on June 15th instead of 360 Sprint Cars. Sorry for any inconvenience. - Ron

Schedule Update- We will be moving our original Merced date to Saturday June 1. That allows us to make a return to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday May 11 for the "Tribute to Baylands!"
Thankyou KWS. I miss Baylands and it is about time we had this event. Alot of the Baylands drivers chose Petaluma over San Jose due to San Jose having WoO caliber cars, but the racing was just as good.
