Want to be a Race Reporter

Basically what YOU would do is: 1. Take pictures of the drivers and events, and interview drivers at your home track, and other tracks in your area. 2. See if we can help the promoter. 3. Watch the races. 4. Make sure we get the news and results from the track. 5. Send the pictures and interviews to LuvRacin in order for the driver pages to be made. Upload the photos of the event and send us the link. 6. Make post on local bulletin boards to promote the events and drivers and the site. That's it! You have fun and your drivers get more exposure.

What are the advantages of being a Luvracin.com Reporter?

- You get in for free

- You get to promote YOUR drivers and tracks.

- You can help your racing budget with both income and savings!

What you need to qualify for a position in the racing media

- No experience necessary

- Must have a luv for racin

- Must have a desire to promote local tracks and drivers

- Must be willing to work.

www.luvracin.com is looking for Reporters for our 2013 Team. If you are interested in learning more send me and email at [email protected] . Include some of the tracks in your area, your phone # and how you think you could help. Reporter 2013 in the subject line.

Pardon me but I do not see any mention of compensation for the work intended. How much does this pay?

Finding someone to pay you for writing about racing is a tough task.
I will say this, in the 80s I began writing a "free" column for a paper called MARC Times Racing News. It led to a job as a stringer writing stories for the local newspaper. That led to a full time job writing about sports, which I still do today.

In other words, the more of one's own money one spends to have "fun" the more "pay" one receives in the form of pit passes. I just resigned from a similar gig after fourteen seasons. It's great for a younger racing fan who's going to be there anyways if they have money to burn. I've taken a ton of racing photos and had to purchase some pretty stout gear to get night shots of Sprint Cars going 100+ mph. Two camera bodies, half a dozen lenses, two flash units, accessories, reliable vehicle, gas to and from the races, meals. If there was any money in this I'd be preparing for my fifteenth season instead of wondering what I'm going to do on Friday and Saturday nights this coming summer. wink

Just sayin' from personal experience, read the fine print before committing to anything. See who's going to supply the photo gear and make sure the tracks will honor the requests for credentials. A lot of tracks do not recognize internet sites as legitimate media, if they did I'd be preparing for my fifteenth season. My site has been online since 1999 and like I said, I have contributed to papers and magazines for fourteen years and passes were getting more difficult every year. H*ll, I'm even on the track photographer's list at two tracks but I'll still be on the outside looking in now that I'm not writing a column. Like I said, read the fine print.

So I guess I wont see Stan this year at New Richmond. I know you had a great ride over the years.

I'll get out a half dozen times at CLS and SCVR to try and add a few photos to my collection. It'll be out of pocket with no obligations. I can't give it up entirely but the number of races has been steadily declining the past few years. Just couldn't come up with the funds I needed to attend the number of races required to make an obligation to the publications. wink

P.S. Just adding a dose of reality to this thread. The uninitiated are going to read it and think they can sign on and get paid to go to the races. That's not reality. It's a good gig if somebody is already going to attend a bunch of shows and wants to work to cut their total expenses down but they're not going to come out of it with more left over than they put into it. Especially if they have to drop 5 grand on camera equipment just to get started. wink

To be blunt, I have seen the quality of both the photography AND the writing on that website and personally would not want to be grouped with them. My pictures are already bad enough on their own,

There is one track I went to and one of their "photographers" were using an iPHone to cover the event.... Just a site to get people into the races for free and one more person in the way...
