You might want to consider that the weather could be a factor in how long it actually takes you to get there. A couple years ago it took us 27hrs. to get there from So.Cal.,granted we were pulling a race car,but from about 50 miles from the New Mexico border all the way to Santa Rosa NM we barely got over 45mph due to bad road conditions,I spent 4hrs following a snow plow truck at about 20mph from Gallup NM to Grants NM which is around 80 miles in a nasty snow storm, before the snow plow came on the road in front of me I could barely tell where the road actually was.(not fun)

So a word of advice, check the weather before you go,as the weather can get pretty nasty from Flagstaff to the Texas line.

i leave one day ahead of normal just to allow for delays that can happen suck sa weather or blown tires etc.

if you have a diesel rig dont forget to treat the fuel or the cold weather will cause you trouble with jelling etc.

low and slow is the way to go,get there safe and enjoy.

Haven't missed a single Chili Bowl. Of course I'm thankful for only living 25 minutes away. How many remember the first Bowl? Emmett got on the horn and rounded up some local mini sprints just to make car count. I remember the stands being like a ghost town. Fast forward to today and all I can say is WOW!!

I'd like to see Emmit bring back the "Slide for Life" Intermission special from one of the early races.
