Just read that Kenny Schrader is building a truck for the Eldora race next year. So.... Is he a threat? I feel Nascar won't let some brush okie shade tree racer come out and kick ass on their superstars, but Kenny is a known and popular driver. Will he be in the hunt or not?

I have watched Kenny race in a few late model races in the last couple of years. He hasn't been a threat to win any of the ones I was at. In fact, I don't believe he made the A main in any of them. Couple that with the fact that he has not been a legitimate threat to win a race in any Nascar division in almost 20 years, and I believe one could assume he will be no threat next year in Eldora in a truck. Not that I wouldn't like to see Kenny do well. But there would be no reason for one to believe that he will. As far as who Nascar will and will not allow to win? Nascar will have little to say about who wins. Make no mistake about it, there are going to be more than a couple of hired guns driving for a number of truck owners. I think you will see a fair amount of guys brought in who have late model or sprint car experience at Eldora. These are the ones I would expect to do very well. Maybe a Scott Bloomquist or Jimmy Owens? How about Donny in a Tony Stewart owned truck?

I'll bet Kyle Larson is licking his chops for this one. Seems like a natural fit for him.

Yeah, I'm gonna send Kyle's dad $10 to help him "buy Kyle a ride" for this race!

Think I will put my money on KYLE in that number 4 truck.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Look for Tyler Reddick to have a ride for that race as well.

Bloomquist and Owens make sense in the right trucks. Next question: Are more Cup drivers with dirt experience going to play? Gordon? Khane? Boyer? Stewart? Keslows...oops, or others?

I bet you will have Tony Stewart in a Tony Stewart owned truck or anyone elses truck that will let him stap in that is competetive.

I doubt that Smoke will try to race....he will be a little busy making sure everything is going OK. (yes, he races the Prelude, but that is a different kettle of fish)
I also doubt that Bloomer or any of the DLM regulars will try....fenders and dirt are about all the two divisions have in common. The way that DLM's are set up these days with fancy shocks and rear axles that pull the LR forward in the turns, a wingless sprint is closer to a NASCAR truck than a LM is. (besides, I always wondered if Bloomer would be granted a NASCAR license with his past "issues".....NASCAR doesn't need a conviction to blackball someone)
NASCAR has already said that the field will be limited to 30 trucks, what they haven't said is the format or how many of those 30 will be locked in by points. I'm betting only 5-8 spots will be available to non-regulars.

Tracy Hines will have a ride for this too. Jeff Babcock will also have a ride for this and is very good at Eldora in the lower ranks. Might be surprised on just who will be fast at this event. i hope half the truck regulars don't even make the field, that all depends on the format too i guess?
do it in the dirt

Good point on Bloomer. May not be allowed.
It would be a huge mistake for them not to allow at least 10 or 12 invaders into the field. That is what would pull the ratings up on TV. Even the most stubborn Nascar hating sprint car fan would turn this race on to see someone from their ranks trying to spoil the party. And, I still think Smoke will race. Time will tell!
