Finally got around to watching my DVR'd Windtunnel episode from Sunday night. Kyle Larson was a guest via telephone. When asked what his main goal going forward was, he stated that his main goal was to make enough money so that he could start a racing team or two and help young drivers through the ranks of sprint car racing like Kasey and Tony do. (not verbatum-just summing up his comments) I thought that was a pretty cool goal.

According to some on this board his family has enough money to buy him anything he wants, I had the opportunity to watch him in a midget this weekend and no doubt about it he is the real deal. He is as smooth as anyone ever.

Yeah, I think he will not only win in anything he gets in, but I think he will dominate any type of car he wants to commit to. If he signs up to run trucks full time, he will likely be a title contender in a couple of years, if not right away. If and when he makes the move up the ladder, I expect the same from him in whatever division he runs in. Will he live up to the hype? Time will tell, but I would give it a 75-80% chance from what I have seen so far: 3rd in his 1st (I believe 1st) chili bowl, makes A-main in 1st trip to K-ville nationals, 3 straight top 10's in his first 3 truck races (including a 2nd), wins his 1st stock car championship in his 1st try, list goes on. Hope he does well, and hope he keeps his promise to follow Kasey and Tony and give back to the sport of sprint car racing that is 1st in his heart.

I wonder where the rumor came from that his folks have $$$. I met them and have the opposite impression. No Daddy Meggabux here. Besides, with that much talent, you don't need a bankroll to get in the game.

No, it wasn't his first chili bowl. It was his 5th. His first was in 2008 and ended in the F-Main. In 2009 he got to the C-Main. In 2010 he made it to the A-Main and finished 10th. In 2011 he flipped in a heat on his preliminary night and destroyed the car and was done for the week. And in 2012 he was 3rd in the A-Main.

I was curious about this as well. Can you point to the post where he specifically said Kyle's parents are paying for the rides?

I thought it was interesting that he also said they are still searching for (financial) help to be able to run next year. The last time Jeff Gordon was on he stated Kyle has a future IF they can find the marketing partner for him. The truck he drove was sans sponsors except to say Ganassi Racing on the side.
All those resources and all that talent and all the publicity, and still searching for financial help to make it happen. You would have thought they would be knocking down the doors by now. Or maybe they are, and Ganassi and Kyle are keeping it close to the chest. ??

Thank You finally someone tells the truth about the Larson family. This kid is a major talent. Wouldn't any parent fully support their son or daughter anyway? Just be happy we get to watch a rising star, who by the way is a very nice kid!

Thanks for clearing up. That is why I had a question mark next to it. Wasn't sure on that.

He talks about Kyle buying his rides all the time. But this has been going on all year, so the early posts have been buried in the depths of hoseheads.

I agree he does say the rides are bought. I have never seen anyone but those of you that bash him say that Kyles parents have bought the rides. I may be wrong. That's why I asked if you could point us to the post where he has said it.

"Can he work on his own cars he drives. Can he rebuild shocks. Can he
groove his own tires. Can he take a Slick tire and come up with a tread
pattern that all modern day sprint car tires are designed off. Can he
drive a hauler in to the track. Im sorry I think there are more then a
few that like the old crowd cause they dont did more then just drive
with daddys pocket book behind em."

who gives a rats ass if he bought the rides? he has shown time and time again that he has the talent to win races in every type of car he has run (disclaimer....as long as its not a winged car in pa.) for all you boneheads that think ride buying doesnt happen at every level, think again! doesnt mattrer if its daddys money, a sponsors money, parts deals, tire deals or aunt beas money, a shitload of drivers wouldnt be racing right now if they didnt bring something to the party. so kyle does something to make the investment worth something and gets shit for it.....what about all the no talent car wreckers that just piss away anyone's money but their own? jesse's name was brought up.....do you think he raced on his own dime? how about swindell.....or kinser.....or (fill in the name here)?? they didnt bring anything to the table when negotiating their deals......and someone is paying for them to race, are'nt they? WTF is the difference??

Shane Carson told me last year that the Larsons were never rich to begin with.
Shane had been watching Kyle for years to begin with.......................
Besides, you don't get a ride in the Hoffman sprinter because you got money, you get a ride because you can swing that bastard around and win!The rest of YOU PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW THIS!!

This was started by a couple of the "resident trolls."
I doubt any serious race fan believes any money changed hands for Kyle to get a ride.
When you have his talent...you don't go looking...they come to you.
Jealousy is a horrible thing...especially when "puter bandits" are doing their posting out of frustration and that frusdtration is that they never got to drive a race car! Have keyboard - will belittle!
