History of the Fred Ercse Classic: The first Fred Ercse Classic started 14 years ago with an event held at GoKart World, shortly after Fred's passing. JJ Ercse and family started promoting the event in 1999, donating all proceeds to the American Heart Association in memory of Fred Ercse and others lost to heart disease. Over the years, thousands of dollars have been raised through this memorable cause. This annual race is held during the week of the prestigious Turkey Night Grand Prix so that many of the area's top racers, race fans, and national drivers (many from the Midwest contingent) are in town to support this and the Turkey Night Grand Prix.
