Authorities say a 20-year-old Oklahoma man is in critical condition after his motorcycle struck a black bull that was standing on a rural roadway.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the collision happened Tuesday night in rural Caddo County.

A preliminary report says Michael Schimmel of Lookeba was driving his 2005 Honda Rebel motorcycle when he collided with a black bull that was standing in the road. Authorities say Schimmel was thrown about 75 feet from his motorcycle after the collision.

Authorities say Schimmel was taken to OU Medical Center with head and internal injuries. He is listed in critical condition.

I guess he couldn't see a 1,200 +- pound bull in the road!

Believe me, a black bull standing on a roadway in the country at night could be hard to see until too late to avoid. Reminds me of the time my little brother ran mom's car into a ditch trying to avoid just such a black cow. Course, it came out years later that there may have been more beer and less cow involved in that incident.

I myself ride to and from Chico from fair oaks California a 80 mile trip each way. for the GOLD CUP. It is a 4 night show and riding down hwy 99 late at night is a lil spooky with little or no lighting at all and I make sure I get behind another vehicle . So if something does come on the road I'm not the 1st impact and maybe ill have a chance .
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

dirt..you're right...the stretch from just south of Chico until you hit I5 can really be bad...especially if you are on a bike. Be careful out there. Smile

My best friend back in the early 70's totalled his brand new camaro (one week old) when he hit a horse who had bolted after a farmer had left his gate open. Too make matters worse he was sued by the farmer who was pi$$ed he had killed his favorite horse, lost that too.....
