From the Sacramento Bee...
Local motor sports notes: Promoter builds dirt racetrack at Stockton fairgounds By Mark Billingsley Bee Correspondent Published: Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 - 12:00 am | Page 3C Last Modified: Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 - 12:20 am
Tony Noceti is doing his community a favor.
Noceti, who leases Stockton 99 Speedway, has built a new three-eighths-mile dirt circuit in the infield of the horse track at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds in Stockton. He hopes to have between eight and 10 dirt-track shows starting next year with at least one date with the World of Outlaws.
"It's a beautiful facility and can fit between 9,000 and 10,000 in the grandstands," said Noceti, who took over Stockton 99's asphalt track in 2009 after it had lain dormant for three years and was facing bulldozers to make way for houses before the economy collapsed. "The (San Joaquin County) fair board has been very supportive, and frankly this track will help bring in some much-needed revenue."
Noceti said he's already been in contact with the World of Outlaws, the nation's premier traveling sprint car series, about having at least one show next year. The Outlaws already race each spring and late summer in Chico and Calistoga, so a trip down Highway 99 for another large purse could be enticing.

A "contract with the WoO" can mean two very different things: One is that a promoter has put up $90K to buy the show, bear the risks and see if he can make out above what he's invested altogether. The other is that WoO rents the facility (for about $10K) and promotes their own show (as was done this last year, I am told). If it's the latter at Stockton, one wonders how that might effect a WoO show at Tulare or Hanford, which are only 170 miles away... or vice-versa. My =guess= is probably "not that much," but I'll still ask the question.

Hmm. 80 miles from Campbell and 120 from Watsonville. Wonder what kind of cars he'll run in his $25 general admission shows.
