$15k to win Calistoga 75th Anniversary Race on Saturday
CALISTOGA, CALIFORNIA (October 26,
2012) – The Napa County Fairgrounds will welcome more than 30 Winged
360 Sprint Car teams as they duel for more than $60,000 in prize money
in this Saturday night's 75th Anniversary Commemorative race at
Calistoga Speedway. Thanks to generations donations this week,
$15,000 will be awarded to the winner at one of California's most
prestigious dirt tracks.
Race fans can expect
a driver roster that features some of the "who's who" of Northern
California Sprint Car racing in the one-night-only spectacular. The 30
lap feature pays tribute to the 75 year racing history of the half-mile
and will pay $750 just to take the green flag.
Every 2012 weekly
360 or 410 track champion from Northern California has entered this
event. The entry list includes Silver Dollar Speedway champion Sean
Becker of Roseville, CA, Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo champion
Shane Golobic of Fremont, Placerville Speedway and Civil War Sprints
champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn, Petaluma Speedway champion Chase
Johnson of Penngrove, and Marysville Raceway Park champion Billy Wallace
of Grass Valley.
Fresh off of his
2012 Trophy Cup championship, 2011 World of Outlaws champion Jason
Meyers of Clovis, CA will drive Morrie Williams' #0 entry on Saturday
night. The #0 team won the 2012 King of the West championship with Jon
Allard driving.
Among the newer
additions to the roster are new Ocean Sprints track record holder Mike
Henry of Sacramento in the Mafara Motorsports entry out of San Diego.
American Canyon's Travis Berryhill will drive Brett Lay's #24b machine
as well.
Drivers not entered
but expected to compete include Grass Valley's Jason Statler,
Placerville Speedway runner-up Stephen Allard of Chico, 16 year-old
Sprint Car rookie Carson Macedo of Lemoore, CA, Justyn Cox of
Clarksburg, CA, and Willie Croft of Citrus Heights. Calistoga Speedway
track championship points leader Jeff Griffin is also making plans to
attend.
Race fans who arrive
early can take part in a free concert from the West Coast Blues Review
and there will be a bounce house for the kids.
Wine and beer
tasting will take place from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. and includes a variety of
both Napa Valley wines and beers include Mark Stein Beverage beer
selections. $15 tickets, which include either a souvenir wine or beer
glass, are available online in advance as well or can be purchased at
the door.
Reserved seating is on sale online now for $45.00
in the covered stands. The uncovered bleacher seating will be general
admission at $25.00 for adults. General admission for kids 12 and
under will be free.
Pit gates open at 11
a.m. with fairground gates for the public opening at noon. Hot laps
will begin at 5 p.m. followed by qualifying, with opening ceremonies
scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
