FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
75th ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIVE RACE COMING TO CALISTOGA OCTOBER 27
CALISTOGA, CALIFORNIA (October 4,
2012) – $7,500 will be on the line for the winner as Calistoga Speedway
will celebrate the 75th anniversary of racing action at the Napa
County Fairgrounds with a one-night-only 360 Sprint Car spectacular on
Saturday October 27. The commemorative event will award more than
$50,000 as one of the richest 360 Sprint Car events on the West Coast
and is expected to attract top talent to the half-mile oval.
Since 1937,
Calistoga Speedway has been a fixture on the West Coast racing scene and
is one of the oldest operating dirt tracks in the nation. The
opportunity to compete for strong prize money in an historic race has
already drawn more than 20 pre-entered drivers. Entries will be capped
at 60 cars for this Saturday night special show. Not only will the
event pay $7,500 to win, it will also pay $750 to start the feature.
All told, more than $45,000 has been posted for the feature event
alone.
The early entry
deadline has been extended to Monday October 8, where entry will be just
$75. Any entries received after October 8 will be $100, not
including pit passes. Pit passes will be $40 and overnight camping
will be available for $25 per night (space is limited).
Calistoga Speedway
has entertained a variety of winged and non-wing, 410 and 360 Sprint
Cars throughout a busy schedule this season.
Sprint Car race
winners at Calistoga in 2012 have included St. Helena's Rico Abreu and
Tim Kaeding during the Memorial Day weekend for King of the West,
Chico's Mason Moore in the Civil War event in August, Hollister's Ryan
Bernal and West Sacramento's Kyle Hirst during the USAC/CRA "Louie
Vermeil Classic" on Labor Day weekend, and Donny Schatz with the World
of Outlaws in September.
A family friendly
atmosphere is planned with many activities to be announced in the
coming weeks leading up to the show. Reserved seating is on sale
online now for $45.00 in the covered stands. The uncovered bleacher
seating will be general admission at $25.00 for adults. General
admission for kids 12 and under will be free.
Race fans and local
businesses can also participate in the race by making a tax-deductible
donation. Donation amounts range from $100 to $500 and include
admission, parking passes, and recognition in the souvenir program.
