Aaaaannnnnnnd... THERE HE GOES! Kyle Larson Asked to Skip Non-Wing Sprint Shows
Tulare, CA | Oct. 2, 2012 - Kyle Larson's nasty crash at the Four Crown Nationals (video in comments) worried Ganassi Racing enough to ask him to step down from future Traditional Sprint Car events due to Larson's development contract with the motorsports giant. Kyle was scheduled to drive the Josh Ford Motorsports #73 at Trophy Cup at the Tulare Thunderbowl on October 18th.
It's definitely disappointing for all his local friends and fans not to get to see him work his magic in a non-wing car one more time. But everyone surely understands that drivers, like other professional athletes, are commodities and big dollar teams reserve the right to protect their investments.
Larson, from Elk Grove, CA, will still be competing in the winged portion of Trophy Cup behind the Finley Farms #77. Trophy Cup starts Thursday, October 18th with the non-winged Sprint Cars and then the winged Sprints on October 19th and 20th.

...cant he buy a safer ride? Sarcasm inserted...NASCAR has taken a lot of sprint talent. It's called the golden rule, he who has the gold rules.

+1 that was where my mind went when I first heard this .maybe his camp will give us a reply on this matter .also what about turkey night . At the PAS. I'm pretty sure on the 1st weekend of nov . He will have his K&N race in rockingham on the 3rd and run over for the WoO finals. Also shows on Kyles schedule he will be in the 77 for the cotton classic.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

i kind of wondered something similar as far as what he would be allowed to drive. the post does say "traditional SPRINT cars", but i may just be trying to over define the meaning......or maybe not.
i guess we will have to see if this move affects his midget or silver crown participation.
if kyle isn't allowed to drive any non-wing cars, that would sure cut into his stock car racing. unless nascar has a rule change coming that we don't know about. HA!
to indy and beyond!!

Why can't his parents just start there own Nascar team and have Kyle drive for them so he won't have to deal with the rules that the car owners are making (sarcasm inserted here). Geez you would think with all of that money that they have thrown around that they would have been able to afford a race team already (more sarcasm).
This does not surprise me though, but I hope he can make some of the bigger events the rest of this year and next.

When I seen that wreck, thats exactly what went thru my mind, but I was hesitant to say anything..
I think Kyles has/had the midgets on the schedule this weekend. I guess we shall see.

Very disappointing but not surprising to me.

Hit the nail on the head. Hope I don't get hammered for this, but thats exactly what Marx said about all of us who have to sell our precious time for $$$. When you hit my age (62), you realize that time is all we really have, & its just another commodity like pork bellies or oil futures.
Hopefully if Kyle makes Big $$ in NASCAR, he can give back to the sprint world like Tony Stewart & race wherever he wants....

After watching the excellent free video of 4 Crown, & seeing Kyle's accident a few times, I don't blame Gannassi for asking him to stop. I'm amazed that sprintdrivers even get back in the cars afer wrecks like that, or that Kyle's Mommy hasn't stopped him (joke!). Thank God for modern safety equipment!

From Kyles Twitter when asked: No more sprint cars, Is it true?
Kyle answered: no more non wing sprint cars for now.
Kyle is at the Gold Crown Midget Nationals this weekend. He started 4th in H2 behind Darland, Shuman and Glenn and won . (Shuman DNS)
He starts 5th in the A tonight.....
I guess that answers the chili bowl ? for now anyway..
