Tulsa
Oklahoma (September 17, 2012)- The Oil Capital Racing Series will be
in action this Saturday night at the lightning fast Salina Highbanks Speedway for a
very special night for race fans. Salina Highbanks Speedway is hosting a tribute
to one of the sports most iconic names in open wheel racing: The “Ofixco Racing Team!”
Based in Tulsa Oklahoma in the 1980’s,
this “Super Team” featured some of the area’s biggest names to hit the tracks.
Derrill Brazeal, Jerry Stone, Tony Armstrong, Aaron Lemmons and Pete Frazier were
key players locally and World Of Outlaw superstar Ron “The Flyin’ Shoe” Shuman of
Arizona wheeled the Ofixco 21x sprinter around the countryside that made for a
true super team. These racers are well documented with multiple race wins and
championships on the Ofixco racing resume.
Get
Pictures and Autographs From The Drivers!
There
will be 2,000 FREE specially made pictures of the Ofixco team for fans entering
the gates Saturday night. Brazeal, Stone and Armstrong will be on hand to sign
autographs and pose for pictures. Bring any Ofixco pictures, shirts, hats
and/or jackets from the past you may have to be autographed! You may also bring
other material you may want to have signed as well. The drivers will be
available to sign autographs prior to the 7pm start time for racing action and
again at intermission. Family members of the late Pete Frazier will be in
attendance as well to represent a great racer and Ofixco team member.
Headlining the nights racing action will be the OCRS sprint cars as they
make their last visit to the Salina Highbanks in 2012. Rose Oklahoma’s favorite
racing hero, Jamie Passmore, clinched his fourth career Goodyear Tire and Rubber / OCRS title
at the Oklahoma State Championship held at the Oklahoma Sports Park last
Saturday. Passmore, who has been strong since race number one, leads the series
with eleven A feature wins. Whit Gastineau, the winner of the OSC last week, is
the driver on a roll having “parked it” in victory circle the last three times
out and five times overall.
Harli
White, the teenage racer from Lindsay, will also be on hand to take on the
steep highbanks. She is coming off her best finish in OCRS competition earning
a third place berth last week. Also expected is “The Princess”, Miss Shayla
Waddell, who reigned victorious back in May. Drumright’s Fred Mattox was an
impressive second to Gastineau last Saturday and his first OCRS win is within his
grasp.

OCRS
regular Johnny “Hotrod” Kent has been on a mission of late with a series of top
five performances. Kent was leading the 6th annual OSC at Ada when
he fell out with a problem. The Sapulpa Oklahoma team duo of Danny “Caretaker”
Smith and Kyle Clark, Broken Arrow’s Alex Sewell (who has locked up the 2012
Brodix / PM PRO rookie of the year award) and Bristow gunslinger Tim Kent are
but just a few more winged combatants expected to compete on this special
racing program. Race fans, bring your Sharpie marking pens and any camera
device you may have at your disposal and join us in witnessing a great night of
drama filled sprint car action while honoring some of the legends in our beloved
sport. This will be a very rare opportunity you will not want to miss!
