I'm a fan of Larson but to say he should get Steves ride is just stupid. Larson has a nothing on Steve at this point, We'll see how Larson is doing when he's Kinsers age and see if he's still racing let alone winning. Steve may have hit a rough patch but that happens to all drivers and you can't always blame the driver when there are so many other factors involved in getting a car into the winners circle. Steve has had runs of lack luster finishes in the past and came back stronger than ever. I imagine he'll have to retire sooner or later but I don't see a reason for him to consider it yet.
Larson has a lot to prove before he can be considered one of best and he's a long way from being on the same level as Steve,Sammy and others who have already proved themselves. I think he'll get there but he's not there!

I'm guessing when Larson is Steve's age he wouldn't have been in a sprint car for at least 30 years! Smile

True but will he still be competively racing? Larsons good but he hasn't been around long enough to say if he's one of the greats. There have been more great talents that failed than have went on to be considered one of the best ever. I'm sure he'll do quite well but only time will tell how well.

and I would love to see Larson somehow get into FORMULA ONE! Smile I would also love to see what Tim Kaeding could do in an F1 car LOL! :D Imagine the insane passes and victory celebration. Tim has the best victory celebration in all of motorsports I think. Hes always extremely excited when he wins and puts a smile on the face of everyone. Smile

Formula 1. Now that's wasting your talent.

I dont think I have read a serious post stating that Larson is the best or equal to Kinser or anyone. Currently he is one of the most winning drivers in more than one division. There isnt really many to compare him to.

That is an interesting thought. Being a part of the world's biggest series, racing against what is considered the world's best drivers, and racing all across the world is wasting talent?

If you don't like Formula 1 that is fine, but making claims that it is a waste of talent just isn't correct at all.

Yes they do. Just because you do not like a race car that turns right doesn't automatically make it a non-race car.

I truly do not understand why people must feel they have to pick and choose between different forms of motorsports. If you don't like a certain form then that is fine, no one is forcing you to watch it, but it there any real reason in complaining about it? I'm able to enjoy all forms of motorsports because racing makes me happy no matter the vehicle or the track. It can be Sprints, Indy, NASCAR, Formula 1, BTCC, WRC, Sports Car Endurance, Australian V8 Supercars, etc. If you disagree that is fine, but don't go around saying that a certain class of motorsport isn't "real" and they they don't require any talent just because you don't like it for one reason or another. It is disrespectful to motorsports as a whole and is quite unfortunate that people can be so close minded.

Sorry for the rant.

Who's cup ride will larson take over in 2015, Jamie Mac or Juan Montoya's? Montoya brings in sponsers but sucks bad, and McMurray flat out stinks worse than the start and park drivers.

The world's best drivers, huh? I could be wrong, but I'm willing to bet a top notch sprint car driver would take to F1 much quicker than an F1 driver would take to dirt track sprint cars. Tony Stewart said that sprint cars were the toughest things he's ever drove.

I said "considered the world's best drivers" because that is what the majority of the world thinks. I personally believe that a sprint car driver and a Formula 1 driver would both be terrible if they drove each other's car. They are basically two incomparable forms of motorsport. Nothing about them is the same besides each utilizing a steering wheel, an engine and a set of tires. Given a proper amount of seat time I believe they could each adjust well to each other's form of motorsport.

I'm not coming down on sprint cars (it is after all my favorite form of motorsport). What I am saying is that we shouldn't hate on other forms of motorsport (and claim one takes less talent than the other) just because they are different from what we are used to. All forms of racing takes talent and a specific skill set.

F1 is all car, and if you're driving for the best team and manufacturer then you will win championships, if not, then you have no chance at a championship, and may, if you're lucky, win a couple races at best, no matter how good you are. That is why it would be a waste of his talent. Also, F1 is boring as hell, another reason it would be an amazing waste of his awesome ability. I want him racing here in the U.S., where he can race sprint cars when he can, like Tony and Kasey, and run a team in sprint cars, which he has already said he wants to do. Kind of hard to do that from overseas. I never said it didn't take some sort of "talent".

It might not be either of them since both of them might be out of those cars before 2015. I believe Jamie's contract is up after this year or next and unless he pulls off some wins, I don't see him keeping that ride which pains me to say because I think Jamie is a great driver and person for racing. Hopefully, he can turn it around. Even with sponsorship, I do not see him improving and Ganassi wanting to keep him. This could mean EGR speeding up Larson's development to get him full time earlier than expected which could be bad. We have seen what happened to Logano who was supposed to be the next best thing since sliced bread, and moving him up quickly did not go so well for him.

Why don't we do this: Take Danica out of either the cup car or the Nationwide car and put Larson in it for a race or two. Just like Weldon would have were it not for his untimely and tragic demise I'd bet every dollar that I have ever earned that you would immediately see where she pretty much never had any business being in that car. Hinchcliffe has proven that point not as dramatically as Weldon would have but he definitely helps make the point. So let's just do that and we can settle several arguments very quickly.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Don't think you are gonna get the future of FRANCECAR, Danica, out of her car anytime soon. Too bad as she, long ago, reached her level of incompetance in the door bangers. Frown
