Close Out Regular Season
With hundreds of prizes given away for young racing fans and season
point championships on the line, the racing action at Jackson Speedway capped
off a great regular season of action on Saturday night, Sept. 1. After rain
washed out last week’s racing program, the Kids Big Bike Giveaway and the
Bohl’s Small Engine Sport Mod Bonus Feature event had to be re-scheduled for
the Sept. 1 Season Championship races.
Additionally, through some special sponsorship by a group of great
racing supporters in the area, gate admission was reduced to $3 for adults as a
special Fan Appreciation Night bonus at the Speedway. Sponsors of the Admission
Appreciation event were AGCO, FCA Coop of Jackson, A & W Trucking, Hitch
Doc, United Prairie BankUnited Prairie Insurance, Bank Midwest, Jackson Sports,
Bridget's Bucksnorts Brewhaha and Grill, Jackson Chamber of Commerce and Dan's
Repair - Ringsted IA
Northwest Bank sponsored
150 footballs, basketballs, soccer and volleyballs for the kids giveaways, with
Dirt Track Race Cars and Loeschen Tax and Accounting providing several hundred
die cast toy cars for the kids, along with 186 bicycles given by racing fans,
teams and various supporters around the area.
Feature wins went to Aaron Betz in the Sport Compact class and Justin
Nehring in the Hobby Stocks. Winning the Sport Modified feature was Dan Paplow,
while Bill Boles won the 305 Sprint feature.The Stock Car feature checkers went to Jim Richert and
winning the 360 Championship sprint feature was Gregg Bakker. In the second
Bohl’s Small Engine Sport Modified Feature, Dan Paplow earned the checkered
flags to finish the evening’s racing action.
Earning the Points Championships for 2012 at the Jackson Speedway were
Aaron Betz in the Sport Compacts, Cory Probst in the Hobby Stocks, Matthew
Looft in the Sport Modifieds, Bill Boles in the 305 Sprints, Luke Sathoff in
the Stock Cars and Skyler Prochaska in the 360 Championship Sprints.
Heat race wins went to Megan Lappegard and Aaron Betz in the Sport
Compacts; Justin Nehring and John Briggs in the Hobby Stocks; Danny Myrvold and
Dan Paplow in the Sport Modifieds and Bill Boles in the 305 Sprints; Luke
Sathoff and Trent Schroeder in the Stock Cars and Matt Juhl and Skyler Prochaska
in the 360 Championship Sprints.
The Jackson Speedway IMCA Nationals, along with the Second Annual Loren
Barstad Memorial and Third Annual Doug Cellan Memorial race will be the final
event of the 2012 season on the Jackson Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 29. Action
in all six classes will get underway with hot laps starting at 6:30 p.m. with
racing to follow.
