Hey Everyone,
The sprints were great as usual at the Bowl this past Saturday. I believe there were 38 cars on hand with 5 heats, 2 Bs and the A. The stands were about 60% full (totally unofficial). I got there around 7ish and the stands were almost empty!! That always scares me because I am worried about future races not being scheduled if attendance is low. Luckily, the crowd was late arriving. Thanks people!! To me, since I don't have anything at stake, it doesn't matter who wins as long as people enjoy the event and keep coming back. I do.
I keep inviting friends out to see great racing. I used to tell people I enjoy sprint racing but they always immediately thought NASCAR!!!! I learned my lesson and now just say "winged sprint car dirt track racing!" More wordy, but it stopped the NASCAR junk. Sorry about my personal rant. I feel better now.
Once again, thanks to ALL the racers for their hard work and their friends, family that travel with them to the shows so that a "wannabe" like me can enjoy some fun and great racing.
Cheers,
Kevin

Hey Hasbeen,
I was several years in the music industry and traveled the states playing rock in the early '90s. We had a big ryder truck packed with a fully contained show. I think that background helps me appreciate what it is like to travel long distances and deal with all types of stuff like break downs, differing crowd sizes, no money, crappy hotels and equipment malfunctions. There was no guarantee of success and we did it for the love of playing live. It was all about persuing the dream and doing what you enjoy. We never got rich but what an amazing time!!
All that really makes me understand the nomadic life of a racing team and family.
Kev

It is my understanding the curtains on The Devil's Bowl will be drawn shut forever at the end of their 2013 season.
...good times.

Where did you get your information? I talked with Martin Edwards at Waco last Friday nite and he stated they had not sold and the freeway was not going thru the Devils Bowl as previously rumored. Perhaps Lanny hasn't told hid grand son.
