ELK GROVE, CA (August 21, 2012) - Mike Spencer continues to be unstoppable in both the USAC/CRA
and in the California Sprint & Midget Power Poll! Despite every panel
member residing in Northern California, Spencer's Southern
California non-wing exploits have propelled him again to top the
poll. Spencer won at Watsonville
on Friday August 10 and followed that up with finishes of second, second, and
fourth over the last four USAC/CRA events.
King of the West points leader Jon Allard used a Friday night
410 win at Silver Dollar Speedway against a field that included Kyle Larson and
Andy Forsberg to leap into second in the poll. Allard has his highest
ranking yet in 2012 and will look to unseat Spencer with the Gold Cup upcoming
next month.
Stephen Allard has dropped to third despite winning the August
11th feature at Placerville Speedway. Kyle Hirst also fell to sixth after
not competing with the 410s at Silver Dollar Speedway.
Tim Kaeding and Sean Becker have returned to the poll on the
strength of Saturday night wins. TK had been ineligible for running too
few races but made the most of his King of the West start by winning and moving
to fifth in the standings. Becker won the 360 main event at Placerville
on Saturday night to rejoin the poll just narrowly in the 10th spot.
Bud Kaeding narrowly missed the top 10 in large part due to
racing in the midwest often over the last few weeks. He will try to make
up for it with a strong run in the Johnny Key Classic this Saturday at Watsonville.
