Just saw this update on everyone that was taken to the hospital last night because of accidents on the track at the Mo State Fair.

"Here's an update on everyone injured last night at MO State Fair Speedway Via Bob Baker:
Talked with Roy Wood and he and his wife got home at 6:00 AM this morning. He said she is very banged up.... Broken shoulder & dislocated shoulder that will have to be operated on in 2-3 weeks. Plus, her ankle is broken and her foot is in a cast, and she has a concussion. He said that they are both thankful that she is still alive. Her friend has a broken foot and broken clavicle and was also released this morning. The gentleman who was hit, had to have his leg amputated at the hospital, and he is still in the Columbia hospital. Jordan Creasson has swelling of the brain and they had to do some drilling to relieve the pressure-so he needs some extra prayers right now also.... It was definitely a bad night at the races. Hopefully, everyone will pull through and recover.
Please keep sending prayers!" on
Missouri State Fair Speedway's timeline.

Fair officials canceled the remainder of the race soon after the 9 p.m. crash. Just 45 minutes earlier, a 15-year-old Carrolton driver suffered serious injuries when his racecar overturned several times while negotiating a curve. He was flown by helicopter to University Hospital and also listed in serious but stable condition Monday morning, Stosberg said.

The teen driver, whose name was not released, was involved in a sprint car event, where racers often get behind the wheel years earlier, Stosberg said..http://www.newstribune.com/news/2012/aug/20/crash-during-race-mo-state-fair-injures-5/

The track was not in good shape, as usual for the fair race, Creason put it on what would be the cushion, although it looked like marbles more than cushion, I couldn't tell if something broke or the car just got free but it turned dead right, straight into the wall. I think it rolled once then and came to rest on its side. Looked like the whole engine shifted back from the impact.

Prayers to all those involved. Now.... looking at the pictures the track was not safe for that pit area I assume is in the infield. It has a guardrail that is way too low and buried in dirt. The fencing looks like standard chain link I use in my yard. Promoters, leagues, racers, and safety crews need to always assess a facility for safety before and during races.

The really bad part of the whole incident with the cop car, I know it was brought to the attention of someone involved with the track well before the start that too much dirt had been graded down and they needed to do something to clear it away. One of the biggest problems with the track is that the state owns it, doesn't care about it and the promoters don't have the time to do anything to actually fix the track.

News reports say that Archie Simpson was one of those hit. Archie used to run the WoW series didn't he, along with Wood?

Thoughts and prayers to all involved... Track facility not up to par is obvious... Crown Vic's racing on a half mile track... Come on man, who even thought this was a good idea is not brightest crayon in the box... Let's keep race cars in the race tracks! They're dangerous enough.

I read on another site that they were police officers with little or no racing experience. Been to the track many times, this was such a fluke incident, a foot either way and it looks like nobody gets hit as the car hits something else first....

It was just over two years ago on August 6, 2010 when officers representing several different genres of the law enforcement profession gathered at the ‘Historic Half Mile’ that is Missouri State Fair Speedway to raise funds for the Special Olympics... http://www.racinboys.com/home/article_view/article/38_21246

UPDATE ::

For those of you wanting an update on Jordan Creason, this is from his mom around midnight last night.
Words cannot express the feeling of gratitude in our hearts for the tremendous support we have received the past few days. Every text, every FB post, every Fb message, every phone call, every hospital visit, & certainly every prayer means so much to us. This has certainly been an emotional roller coaster ride & will continue to be for some time I'm sure. Jordan is making progress. In fact, as I began typing this update, I had to stop to go to his bedside as he moved around in his bed & we got to watch him open his eyes and look into ours! What an amazing feeling that was for mom & dad! Tomorrow morning he will have a feeding tube & trache put in. This will make him feel more comfortable as he hates the tubes in his throat. The MRI did confirm he has diffuse axonal injury which means a slow healing process ahead. But as you all know, Jordan is a strong, amazing young man that will fight for full recovery. Please continue to lift Jordan up in prayer as he fights this fight. Much love to all, Todd, Robyn, & Jordan #33

What exactly did he injure?

From what I read on the IBRACN update I believe they had him in a medically induced coma due to brain swelling and presure, it sounded like they drilled holes in his skull to help relieve the pressure of the swelling.

I believe this is the same type of condition Curtis Boyer endured after his Knoxville crash... had to drill holes to relieve the pressure, etc. He made a pretty miraculous recovery and was able to walk onto the stage at the Knoxville Raceway banquet that year. Hopefully Jordan can make a full recovery... thoughts & prayers headed that way!!

Prayers and thoughts for everyone involved in this incident. As someone who has personally witnessed this type of incident it is shocking and unbelievable. The link below still sends chills through me. I want to thank Critter Malone's crew for keeping me safe.
