Stephen Allard moves to 2nd in Silver Dollar Speedway points

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA - June 25, 2007...Momentum is building for Stephen Allard and 1m Racing following one of the teams' best overall performances of the season this past Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway Point Race #12. You can easily see the confidence that Stephen has behind the wheel as the Chico gasser has been one of hottest drivers over the last month ½ in the Feather Falls Casino point series at Silver Dollar. The addition of expert tuner Larry Shelton has payed dividends and SA has moved into the cat birds seat for the track championship at his home track.

Point Race #12 served as Jessee Heating & Air night and Stephen began the event by qualifying the Johnny’s Lock & Safe, Platinum Powder Coating, JP’s Paint & Body, Rocket Chassis No. 1m a solid seventh quick in the 34 car field. Stephen lined up on the inside of row three in the night’s final heat race and he was on the gas as soon as the green came out. He quickly carved his way forward to put the Cross Creek Trucking, DMI Components, Miller’s Glass, Chico Bail Bonds No. 1m into second place after a few laps. SA then put some heavy pressure on leader Doug Lippencott before settling for a solid second place finish.

Fast qualifier Willie Croft pulled the number eight pill for the inversion and it put the Finley Farms, Graph X Designs, Medi-Pro Billing, Chico Bail Bonds machine on the outside of the front row in the 25 lap feature. At the waving of the green flag Stephen settled into second behind pole sitter Trevor Green. The track was very slick, dry and dusty and it made for very challenging race conditions. Stephen lost second to Brent Kaeding on a lap seven restart as Kaeding had found the high side in turns one and two.

SA showed his veteran prowess and moved up a lane in turns one and two and after Kaeding got around Green for the lead, Stephen followed suit and on lap 14 he moved the Bell Helmets, Ringers Gloves, Hunt Magnetos, Fragola No. 1m into second. Kaeding bobbled a couple times in turns one and two which allowed Stephen to close the gap, but didn’t have enough to make anything happen and brought home a second place finish.

The solid night moved Stephen around Andy Forsberg for second place in the Silver Dollar Speedway point standings. With point leader Jonathan Allard leaving California to travel soon, it puts Stephen in great position with eight point races left before the track champ is crowned. Stephen and 1m Racing currently lead the Silver Dollar Speedway point series with seven top five finishes and four heat race wins. If the recent pace keeps up it shouldn’t be too long before the 1m is back in victory lane.

The next event for 1m Racing will be this Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway Point Race #13. As mentioned Stephen goes into the night second in points, 15 behind brother Jonathan for the lead and nine ahead of third place Andy Forsberg.
