I was told his throttle stuck open. Glad he was OK.

The fact that you stood your ground when his throttle was still stuck when it straightened out towards you is impressive to me

His throttle was not stuck before contact with the wall...madsen is clearly shown on the speed video giving dusty the r.r. it may not have been on purpose but the equipment he tears up on what seems like a weekly basis is astronomical...just glad dusty is ok...

Listen to the car as it is on the wall and then hits the track. The throttle picks up as it hit the dirt....... I actually wonder if he stomped it as he came off the wall.

That was my thought as well, he came down the motor wasnt wound up but about the time it hit, it was like it slammed his foot down and away he went. Who knows. Scary crash, watched from the HoF and glad to see Dusty walk away.

A large mud clod enterered the cockpit. It mashed the gas, until Dusty hit the kill switch.

Agreed. Madsen is a hazard to anyone around him on the track. I remember vividly him doing the exact same thing to TK at the gold cup several years ago when Tim was driving the rolfe #10 car. TK was last transfer from the B on last corner pass then starts heading to the front of the A when Madsen runs him over after going 3 wide by himself (something he does regularly). I vaguely remember him doing the same to Paul McMaan at Charlotte too.

Wow. Big hit at high speed. Time for Cubic to tell us that XXX chassis will fall apart, blah, blah, blah. Or "not".

Look at the quick reaction of the safety crew!! WOW, there is still a car going by as the first guy jumps out there! And it's always nice being called by your name, it's more of a calming feeling. Just more proof that they're the best crew in the country!

I have seen several stuck throttle wrecks. Safety crew can do nothing till engine stops. It is scary. About 20 years ago at Knoxville a car crashed on #4 turn, front end broke off of car with throttle stuck. Car went into pits and chased a guy in an electric wheel chair. It all ended out ok.

I saw a link somewhere that shows the crash from still photography. In one image, it looks like his head is touching the steering wheel! Glad this kid is okay!!!
And Gunner, great video and I also have to give it up to you for not flinching during a wreck like this!

There are 8 photos of the flip at www.pilotracewaynews.com
Not sure if this is the link you saw or not.

Nope. Wasn't this individual. It may have been Brandon Anderson photography.
Cancel that. It wasn't BA, but here is a photo of the top of the kid's head.

The picture I'm referring to, you can clearly see the left side of Zomer during the flip.

Got a great start working his way to the A main.... Just to get madmaned its to bad when a driver with talent gets knocked out of the race on the first lap.. and that goes for every good driver that puts on a show

I always agree when somebody brags about how good the safety crew is at Knoxville...I never thought about the "being called by name" part but now that you mention it I am even more impressed by these guys. I have no doubt that hearing someone calling you by name would drop the adrenaline, blood pressure and panic by measurable amounts....these guys are so awesome.
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.
