He made enough money tonight to have blue team eliminated. And have some left over

Great run for Larson no doubt. But bad luck for the 4 others sucks since all deserved better. Sides, Hannigan, Paulus for sure. but really sucked to learn local boy Heskin had motor issues causing car to slug on restarts. He sure had whole field covered if not for those terrible restarts. Glad he got back around Schatz for 2nd.

Agree. Does anyone know what happened to Paulus? Now that was impressive and unreal. To come to Knoxville(or anywhere) and run that well without racing 70-80 times a year is............well, unreal!
edit: just read it was a u-joint for Paulus and if there is any engine damage he is done. Thats a shame.

well Blue has a point and so do you. when the kid passes some cars on Saturday and wins i will be pulling the bandwagon.
|
The young man won Monday night, then Tuesday night, again on Wednesday night at the Nationals... enough for me; actually pretty amazing

Saw him for the first time Sunday at Knoxville and like many others was curious to see him in action after all the hype.I didn't see anything special from him Sunday,he wasn't really bad,but didn't stand out at all either.Maybe he needed more laps at K-ville or maybe it was just a locked down track tonight, guess we will find out Saturday.

When I look through the field behind him and see the adversity and determination it took some of those drivers to still be racing it earns my respect. Dollansky crashes an Indy Lights car and has his back surgically rebuilt. Tatnell gets his lower leg beat up by a drive shaft a few years ago and a little less than six months later he has to be helped from the car in victory lane at the Jerry Richert Sr. Memorial.
Not saying that Kyle isn't a good driver but check back in ten years and see how the story measures up to today's hype. All the pieces have to be in place, talented driver and crew, plenty of money and a little good luck mixed in there as well. What's this, Larson's second season of capturing the attention of fans across the country. Great run but let's see where it goes a few years down the road before enshrining him as an immortal.

Is he good, yes. Is he as great in a winged car as some make him out to be, way too early to tell.
To put things in perspective. He went out early and timed like crap. Lost 36 points right there.
Finished 3rd in his heat after starting 5th. Only passed one car. Lost another 6 points there.
In the feature he started 3rd and again passed 1 car on his way to the win. Congrats, didn't lose any points there.
He's got 458 points. Just might be good enough for the very tail end of the A but I have my doubts.
So to sum it up. He was slow when he was on the track by himself and he passed a grand total of 2 cars all night on his way to a 458 point night.
Meanwhile you've got guys like Dollansky, Saldana and Stewart that passed cars and accumulated more points.
Thankfully they don't hand out the big check and trophy till Sat night. You can luck into winning a qualifying night but you can't luck into winning Sat night.

i got to agree wth blueteam that the win really was mostly luck. winning with mostly luck is not a bad thing steve kinser has done it many times. when I saw the qulifying order I was hopeing that the kid could be quick time or at least top three, then hopefully do wellmin heat and A then earn a top two row starting for the real A on saturday night, if the 7th in points is correct he could possible start as high as maybe 12 but more than likely will be 14-18, I love seeing new winners but will be most talked about race ever if he wins,
the one thing the kid do do well, is not fail under pressure, yes the lead might have been handed to him but he held it without making a mistake
three A feature wins at two tracks in two different cars is still very great thing

...yeh he got lucky to win in against Outlaws at Chico last year...lucky to win at Osky last year...lucky to win all three divisions at Eldora last year...lucky to win his pavement races this year...lucky to win the Ohio speedweek shows this year...man I would love to has his luck...can we all agree that there is some skill involved somewhere in his numerous victories at many tracks he has never turned a lap on previously?

Dang, the jealousy seems to be strongest from the West Coast no less, has he lapped your fav too many times? To put this in perspective makes the most sense if you can figure things out, lol. Winning 3 nights in a row against stout competition is ALL that matters. On top of that the driver just turned 20 years old and is not too familiar with these tracks, how much talent is required, figure it out folks. His accomplishments to date are so impressive already that if you can't figure out that this kid is the next Real Deal than stupidity runs deep in your blood. Having said that, staying healthy and some other 'lucky' factors will have to fall into place to make him the next Tony or AJ etc. It won't be lack of talent to keep him away from his fortune or success, he's already proven that unless you're brain dead and no matter what he does won't convince you due to your foolishness...

Agreed. Here's a young kid who is doing well in everything he drives. Every veteran driver has stated that winning is 50% skill and 50% luck and you better have the skill to take advantage of luck coming your way and Larson does.
I've enjoyed watching the kid and really will hate him going to NAPSCAR. We don't see this type of driver come along to often.

Very well put.
It's inevitable that he will eventually make his way to NASCAR. People with huge talent such as his will be exploited to a national audience. I'm sure he'll follow the steps of Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne and still run some sort of dirt schedule when he does make the move up.

He's sixth in points. Tie-breaker goes to higher finisher in the A-Main now, not quicker timer like before.

He put himself in position to win. that's what every driver there tried to do tonight. Sorry your driver didn't win. If you don't like posts about Kyle, Don't read them.

This is crazy. If the young man started at the tail and won, someone would find a reason to bad mouth him. People act like Kyle is the only driver to ever win without passing many cars. Most of the races these days are that way. Attrition plays a big role in this sport. How many places did Schatz advance because of people having bad luck. I believe when Hannigan, Sides and Paulas dropped out, 75% of the field benefited, not just Kyle Larson. When you start at the tail like some of the better drivers did, you are going to pass a lot of cars. Once the drivers got to the front with the "faster" cars that were in the A-Main you didn't see them do much more passing. If Schatz would have started where Kyle did and won because of attrition (or Luck as some put it), nothing would have been said. Kyle doesn't deserve all this critism. Some of his fans may because of their arrogance, but not Kyle. Good Luck Kyle, it is great to see you race in Knoxville. Before anyone gets excited, I'm not comparing Kyle to Donny Schatz or putting Donny down. I am wearing a Donny Schatz t-shirt as I type.

I don't see how 19th out of 47 cars is slow. Considering that quicktime was the 28th to go out and Steve Kinser timed 15th at the end, I really don't think the track was all that different from start to finish. Also Saldana and Dollansky only went from 8th to 6th in their heat, and Shane Stewart passed no one in his heat.
