Just wondering about the low car counts.

Perhaps Dollansky should get out of the "carnival" hes trying to run and show a bit more respect for the racer and paying spectator. After last years wingless show b.s., I will stay away from anything the man runs, sanctions or promotes

Terry McCarl promotes the Front Row Challenge, not Craig Dollansky.

Where is Terry McCarl to blame for low car counts? The race paid $5,000 to win, and $3,000 for

USAC. Pretty good money on the line to bring competitors in. Looks like there will be more non-

wingers tonight. I'd say the biggest reason for a lower car count would be Knoxville's Capitani

Classic. TMAC did nothing wrong.

Did TMAC pump any motors.

I aim to hit the target.

In years past the FRC has paid $10,000 I believe, and there was guys like Swindell, Schatz, Dollansky, Sides, Saldana, etc..... I wasn't able to make it this year, but also kind of curious why those, (especially Swindell and Sides) would miss two nights of $5,000 to win. Sammy is obviously a near lock to win the FRC, I think he had won 3 in a row. They must not need the money, or they would rather rest up for the big money later in week. Who knows.

I have been attending the Osky races for 11 years now. I've sat in the stands, I've worked for Ron Shuman (SCRA) when he sanctioned the non-wing portion, I worked under Emmett Hahn the first season he had the 'Sprint Bandits' and I've even worked a few years for Terry and Lori McCarl as an independent.

Car counts all over the country are soft. Some softer than others, but soft still yet. In many cases, as with last night, the racing has been great. The McCarl's do an outstanding job in promoting this event. Last night, while car counts were a bit soft, the stands were full and the infield was packed. The show ran well and swiftly. There will always be naysayers to any large event so to try and weed them all out is a futile attempt. I have and will continue to support the McCarls in their Oskaloosa endeavors. Its a GREAT EVENT!

I think the FRC has always been 5k to win or 50 k to win if you took the challenge. When was the last time anyone took the challenge though???

5k is a cut in pay for the WoO regulars who are used to racing for more than that on a nightly basis. There would probably be more interest in 5k to win at Knoxville rather than Osky, just for the extra track time.

There's a thread just started on Hoseheads called "why". I think this post is a good example of that threads point. Your blasting someone for the show they put tons of their own time into putting together and in past history I've seen great things said about, and you can't even take the few minutes of research to blast the right person and then go ahead and blame it on being drunk or hung over or whatever. Classy.

As a paying customer who spent $25 to get in last night, if I am not satisfied w/ the field, I will use this forum to communicate that. 26 cars in the 410s and 23 non-winged cars is pretty lousy for this type of event and the lowest car counts either division got in the recent history of the event.

That said, the event was the best run Front Row Challenge I've been to, and seeing 2 top divisions there was pretty awesome, despite the non-winged cars being a bit of a disappointment.

I'm not sure we need someone policing this forum looking for individual posts to moan about the lack of civility.

And you know what, you spelled out nicely what you were unhappy with, the poster I'm talking about states that he didn't go to the race last night and goes on to complain about the promoter and how few cars there were and gets wrong who the promoter even is, I guess that got me.

As far as cars that showed up goes, I don't know that TMac can force anyone to show up so I don't know how you blame that on him(by all rights dsc I don't think that you are blaming him, but the other poster was). As well as, were any of the full time WoO guys present, I would say if you looked into this deeper you would possibly find that the platinum WoO drivers were not allowed to race it this year per their contracts with the WRG. I do not see that as Terry's fault. It looked like a pretty well named field of cars anyways.

I like the fact that you can come on here and complain about a race or racer and not use facts or even be correct in your post but as soon as someone blasts that poster for their garbage post somebody has to cry foul and whine about their freedom of speech.

Mr. Speedkills,

Were you at LAST YEARS wingless portion of the race?

I've been to them all, thank you, and will not attend his events anymore, thats all.

I've expressed my opinion on this board, from one that has over two hundred and fifty tracks and at least 1000 races over my lifetime.

macpac, unfortunate to hear you will not be attending this years race. Yes last years race was not up to par and of all the races that I've attended at Osky, is an isolated incident. Races have been good so far. Looking forward to enjoy another great night of racing.

i have only been to 70 or so tracs to watch sprints, most of them I have been too many times, of those I have visited many times I would say that every one of them have had times the car count was low, the track sucked and I thought for a few moments that I would not go back, but each of those tracls have also produced great fun fast racing i love the sport and realize just too many variables to always be great to me,

You've been to 250 tracks and 1000+ races and all of the Ultimate and Front row Challenges and your point is that 1 Ultimate Challenge was bad so your conclusion is that TMac is an awful promoter and you'll never give the race another chance. pretty harsh I would say. And then we get the posts about why dirt track racing can't make it and whats wrong, I would say this is a good example of whats wrong. A huge fan of the sport and 1 bad night and your pulling out 100% and letting the rest of the community know you'll never be attending again and how bad the car count is.

My main point really was the fact you blasted the promoter and the event and then named Craig Dollansky as the promoter. I guess for me to respect someones opinion, the facts in that opinion need to be correct to begin with.

I thought it was a great race and I've only missed 2 shows. It was nice having usac running tonight instead of the dead time between the heats and mains. Nice job Terry, Lori and the rest of the gang that puts these races on. Thank You.

U obviously know very little of terry McCarl's tireless commitment to sprint car racing and the extreme lengths he goes to in order to even have racing on Monday and Tuesday of nationals week. My biggest regret is that Allan holland has given you a world wide forum to write your clearly uninformed opinions on this issue. Perhaps you should write a post entitled "why world of outlaw regulars choose not to participate in fan friendly format races".
More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

I just can't for the life of me understand the All Star sanction on the FRC. It makes absolutely no sense to me. Of the "All Star" cars there last night, I'm assuming most would have ran with or without sanction. How many can we designate as ASCoC cars anyways? I count 8 or 9 cars that I know are either ASCoC regulars or are from Ohio, but I'd bet 4 or 5 would run even without the sanction on it. I think something needs to be changed, as the FRC is slowly fading. It's one of my favorite events and I hate to say it, but it needs a spark.
