Severe Weather Dampens Federated Auto Parts Ironman 55
A violent storm hit Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 as feature cars were staging
PEVELY, Mo. — Aug. 4, 2012 — A severe storm slammed the Federated Auto Parts Ironman 55 presented by Summit Distributing/Coors Light on Saturday night.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event was completed under a shortened program at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55. All races were finished except the final event, which was staged on the track when a downpour and lightning closed in on the area. Local authority warned of the severity of the storm and measures were immediately taken for the safety of the spectators and teams.
The Federated Auto Parts Ironman 55 main event will be contested as part of the program during the World of Outlaws appearance at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 on Saturday, Oct. 13. Ticket holders for the October show will get to watch two feature programs for their admission.
Kerry Madsen won his fourth dash of the season to earn the pole for the famed event with fellow Australian James McFadden on the outside of the front row.
Kraig Kinser established quick time in qualifying to open the night, and Craig Dollansky, Dale Blaney and Donny Schatz each claimed a heat race.
Next up, the World of Outlaws venture to Knoxville, Iowa, for the $150,000-to-win, 52nd annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals next Wednesday through Saturday.

You'd just have to buy a ticket for the oct 13 show, and get to watch the 55 lap feature and the oct 13 show. If you have a ticket stub from last night, they will honor it for the whole oct 13 show.

Are you sure? That is not how I read it. I don't think the tickets for last nights show are worth anything. Heat races were completed it was a complete show.

from what i read on woo website the ticket holders for oct race will get to see two a-mains for price of one. did not see anything about honoring august 4 tickets. u have to remember the oct race is a make up for spring cancelled race and its ticket holders. if you honor aug 4th tickets at the oct race you will have double seating. that would make for some interesting fights!!!

i just went on the woo site they are selling a few seats left for the 13th but most show sold and that would be from the spring date i think last nights folks are out of luck they cant honor both the spring tickets and last nights,so if you want a double header there are a few seats left should be a great show

We don't get in free for being there last night, I was going anyways so no big deal and the weather will be alot better in October. I just wonder what the guys who came by heading to Knoxville will do, it's a long ways from PA to run one night.

i agree. i wish some of the Pa guys would come out. i hope this OCt show brings in big crowds. if if does us fans should get together and push for them to move Ironman back to 2 days and in Oct and not compete with 360 nationals. not everyone has $ for I-55 and Nationals.

I'm excited about the re-scheduling of the Ironman 55 to October. Be making my first visit to I-55 and would be awesome if it was a 2-day show in October starting next year.

I was really disappointed I didnt get to go saturday night(due to tight finances) but its looking like Oct 13th is going to be a GREAT night. There will be a chill in the air and dirt in the air as well. You will definitely be getting your moneys worth in October

How? The standard rain out policy for almost every race track is once the heat races are completed, it is a complete show. The Heat races were completed. The Dash had been run. It was a complete show. At this point the promoter can do 1 of 2 things. He can have a double featute at some point in the future, or he can determine some sort of pay scale and pay the purse based on the pay scale.
The double feature is by far the most common method, but I have seen the other method used as well. Everyone who visits Hoseheads should understand this. I really don't understand how anyone could be upset with this.

You get it, I get it... there is no real ideal solution to a situation like this, but my friends who bought tickets and went don't really get it. They are new to dirt track stuff...saw the commercial for the Ironman 55 during a NASCAR race and said, "let's try it..."
When they go to the Brickyard 400 and rain comes, it's considered a complete show when 1/2 the laps have been run.
For the show this past Saturday night, the Ironman 55 is being considered a complete show when zero laps had been run.
Dirt track regs and hosehead types get it...but new fans may not.
