Sprint Car Triple Play Provides Great Racing For Great Fair Crowd The first ever appearance of the University of Northwestern Ohio’s All Star Circuit of Champions to the Jackson Speedway was entered into the history books Friday night as part of the 2012 Thunder through the Plains tour at the Jackson County Fair Sprint Triple Play. A total of 22 410 cubic inch winged sprints turned out to do battle on the historic half-mile speedway. Joining the All Stars were 13 Forbes Meats–JSTS 360 winged sprints along with seven A&W Trucking 305 winged sprints to fill out the triple play of the all-sprint show for the 144th edition of the Jackson County Fair. With local sponsorship from Jackson Sports and Donaldson Docks of Estherville, a large crowd turned out on a near-ideal night for races. With two-lap time trials determining the lineups for the All Stars, the target time was the all-time lap record of :15.601, set by Sam Haefertepe, Jr, during the2010 visit of the World of Outlaws to the Speedway. For the All Stars, quick time honors went to Caleb Helms of Findlay, Ohio, turning a time of :17.266, which equated to a 104 mile per hour average speed on the half-mile. Feature winners were Bill Boles, of Harris, IA, in the A&W Trucking 305 Sprints, while Heat race wins went to Derrik Lusk in the A&W Trucking 305 sprints, while Jody Rosenboom and Skylar Prochaska took the wins in the Forbes Meats-JSTS 360 sprints. In the UNOH-All Star heats, the wins went to David Gravel, Brad Sweet and Marty Perovich. The six-lap AutoWears Performance Dash victory would go to Danny “the Dude” Lasoski. The speedway will be silent for the first two Saturdays in August, but on Saturday, August 18, Jackson Speedway will host the Third Annual Loren Woodtke Memorial with sponsorship by Livewire Printing and Loeschen Tax and Accounting Services.
