Close Racing During Jackson County Fair Races at Jackson Speedway
The 144th edition of the Jackson County Fair hosted a field of 56 for racing action in front of the grandstands on Thursday evening, July 16. Itwas a night to feature the IMCA classes of competition with the Sport Compacts, Hobby Stocks, Sport Modifieds and Stock Cars taking to the historic half-mile. At the conclusion of the races, the Fair’s Even of Destruction capped off the night with a heat of demolition derby action. Heat race wins went to Nate Coopman and Stephanie Forsberg in the Sport Compacts; Malik Sampson and Jeremy Wegner in the Hobby Stocks; Tad Reutzel and Nick Johansen in the Sport Modifieds and Trent Schroeder and Luke Sathoff in the Stock Cars. Feature victories went to Nate Coopman in the Sport Compacts, Drew Bargloff in the Hobby Stocks, Nick Johansen in the Sport Modifieds and Luke Sathoff in the Stock Cars. The evening’s finale’, The Eve of Destruction, featured a vicious battle between five competitors: Nick Schroeder of Wanda, MN; Jesse James of Okoboji; Clinton Clemen of Milford, IA; Brian Clemen of Milford, IA; and Stacy Flynn of Lakota, IA. The first warrior to fall would be Jesse James in the 101 car to finish fifth. Nick Schroeder would fall next in the 686 car to finish fourth, with the 21 car of Brian Clemens placing third. The runner-up would be Clinton Clemens of Milford in the 72 carand winning the Eve of Destruction would be the 007 of Stacy Flynn of Lakota. The Mad Dog Award for biggest hits of the night went to Brian Clemens of Milford. The speedway will be silent for the first two weeks of August but will resume racing action on Saturday, August 18, with the running of the Third Annual Loren Woodtke Memorial, with sponsorship by Livewire Printing and Loeschen Tax and Accounting Services.
