Anyone out there run the carbon fiber driveshafts? I would like to hear from some that have and what your experiences were? Thinking about trying one on a 305 car.

I thought the 305's were established to be a cost effective, entry level class of sprint cars. To me "carbon fiber" anything means EXPENSIVE. Am I off base in my thinking??

Driveshaft is what I'm referring to. Yes, 305's are cost effective......motor wise. Other than titanium brakes and wing slider, cars are basically same as a woO car. We need to not only lighten car up but want to reduce rotating weight due to limited hp. (Driver weighs 280lbs)

LOL--in advance--My advice (unless the driver is also the owner) is save your $$$ and put the driver on a severe diet. If the driver is also the owner spend that $$$ as fast as possible and stay on the current meal plan.--LOL.

as a rule carbom fiber/graphite has the weight of aluminum, but if used correctly has the strength of steel. so i guess you would have the advantage of a light weight driveshaft. this crap about carbom fiber body pannel/s is a costly adventure, , kevlar is a strong rock.clod resistant material which will do a more effective job on a racecar. i worked with both in the aircraft industry... to save weight get jac, or little al to shoe for ya ....

cracy: drive shaft have a small circ. and I do not think it would help you much at all. Would make more sense to put tit. beed lock bolts because of large cir.. I do not think carbon fiber shafts will be legal next year as tracks hear of it. Carbon fiber t. tubes are not legal at knoxville, but I do not think they look hard to find one.

They have been around since the late 90s. They had issues when the alum ends would spin free as the bonding agent wasnt up to par. I know of a few 10/10 couplers that broke e clips and the coupler came out of the rear end and zinged motors. Id say safe your money and headaches and just make sure you have a straight Ti drive line and spend you money on new tires.
I don't aim to please.
I aim to hit the target.
