The JSTS Speed Week journeyed back to the land of
10,000 lakes on Thursday night to visit Redwood Speedway in Redwood Falls. A
field of 21 cars made the trip to Redwood Speedway and when the final checkered
flag flew on the night it was Kaley Gharst of Decatur IL picking up the win the
20-lap $1,500 to win event.
The feature event had its fair share of trouble getting started. After an initial bad start, the race
was brought back and restarted. On the restart the red flag was thrown when
several cars got together in turn two, including Curt Lund, Redwood Falls MN,
Casey Heser, Jackson MN, Justin Jacobsma, Hull IA, Randi Miller, Rapid City SD,
and Dylan Peterson, Sioux Falls SD.Lund suffered the most damage as he got upside down. All the drivers were ok, but Lund,
Miller, Peterson, and Jacobsma were done for the night. On the next restart, Thomas Kennedy,
Winnipeg Canada, spun in turn two.The next restart was good and it was Kaley Gharst getting the early lead
from his pole starting position.Gregg Bakker, Sioux Falls SD, would get the second spot with Derrick
Lusk, Jackson MN, getting the third position. At the end of lap one another caution came out when Seth
Brahmer, Wisner NE, spun his car in turn two. That would be races last caution flag and once again Gharst
paced the field as Bakker and now Brain Brown, Grain Valley MO, would chase
after Gharst.Brown was able to
get by Lusk on the lap one restart.By the fifth lap the leaders would spread themselves out with Gharst up
front followed by Bakker, Brown, Lusk, and Skylar Prochaska, Lakefield MN.By lap seven Brown had caught Bakker
and on the next circuit Brown passed Bakker moving into the second
position.At the halfway point
Gharst maintained the lead followed by Brown, Bakker, Lusk and Prochaska. The leaders once again began to spread
themselves around the speedway, but as the race was drawing to a close Brown
and Bakker were gaining on Gharst and the top three were within five car
lengths of one another.Fortunately for Kaley Gharst time ran out for Brown and Bakker and he
picked up his first ever JSTS Sprint car feature event win.Brian Brown settled for second followed
by Gregg Bakker, Derrick Lusk, and Skylar Prochaska.Heat race wins went to Gregg Bakker, Jackson Speedway Touring Series – July 19, 2012 - Redwood Speedway,

Friday’s stop of the Jackson
Speedway Touring Series was at Fairmont Raceway in Fairmont, MN, with a total
of 22 of the JSTS winged sprints checking in for the nights racing action.
Winning the 20-lap, $1500 to win event was Brian Brown Grain Valley MO.
Only two caution flags slowed action in the A Feature. At the drop of the
green it was Brain Brown getting the early lead from his inside pole starting
position. Kaley Gharst, Decatur IL, would get the second spot with Seth
Brahmer, Wisner NE, getting the third spot.
The leaders raced in this order for the first three laps, when Chris Graf, Glencoe
MN, moved into the third spot getting by Brahmer. Two laps later though
Brahmer charged back and was able to get back around Graf for third. On
lap seven the races first caution came out when Matt Juhl, Estherville IA, spun
in turn four, which also collected Dylan Peterson, Sioux Falls SD.
Unfortunately both drivers were done for the night. On the restart,
Brown kept the field behind him as Gharst raced in second and Brahmer in third.
As the leaders put lap 15 on the board, they would enter lap traffic,
which allowed Gharst to close in on race leader Brian Brown. Brown would hold
him off through the next two laps when the last caution came out for Brandon
Stevenson, Holstein IA, who slowed on the back straightaway. On the restart,
Brian Brown kept the field behind him and went on to pick up round three of the
JSTS speed week. Kaley Gharst was second followed by Seth Brahmer, Lee Grosz,
Harwood ND, and Chris Graf. The heat races were won by Brian Brown, Seth
Brahmer, and Kaley Gharst.
